AC Milan coach Ancelotti: Grimi exciting
tribalfooball.com - January 03, 2007

AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed the signing of Argentine fullback Leandro Grimi.
Grimi arrives from Racing Club as Ancelotti revealed yesterday: "I expect to restart the season with these players. There is time until January 31 in order to do something. Between myself and the club it is all clear. There are no plans for new signings.

"The squad? In reality, there is a new arrival, it is Grimi. He's young and the fact that nobody knows him is something very exciting."

Yeah Collocini .. Where do u think he will fit ? In place of Nesta, Maldini, Kakha, or Costacurta ? We were better of selling him, than having him rot on the bench wink.gif

you should know already that I don't count Kaladze as a worthy player... I'd pay him so that people wouldn't say Milan only got beautiful players (...) or as a ball-boy but that's all...

U really dissapoint me ... Though Id expect this from a Guive fan tongue.gif ... Never from u biggrin.gif ... In anycase, I think he was EXTREMELLY crucial for us last season. He was the only fit defender we had at times, still he was up for the challenege

Oh you know him and Porto like to give him stick for no reason. Imo Kala is a very good defender and Milan had much, much worse then him.

And considering how crucial he was to us last season I can't see why they still give him such a hard time

Ofcourse .. Kakha is a great player !!! He was very crucial for us last season .. He was part of the XI that got us the CL in 03 and scudetto in 04.

I think Kakha should stay with us for sometime, cuz he still has a lot to prove devil.gif

I really can't see how he was crucial to us last season apart from the goal in the derby. He only was, as you used to say, the lesser of our evils...

I would play Simic and Bonera in the centre of the defence cause they're both definitely better than him... !!

Ok I never said he was the lesser of our evils, just said that Nesta made him look good...

But looking back at our games last season he was very impressive. And no way would I put Simic in before him, Bonera yes but Simic, I never really trusted him and the only way I would choose them over him is if they will be playing along side Nesta or Paolo. But not pick either of them before him when it's someone else in the defence.

The only thing that Kala doesn't have is speed

I can't see how Carlo said this, he was just now quoted as practically saying that he is sure he will have Oddo by the end of January.

he had some good game last season but he was far from impressive IMO. Simic and Bonera are better in every aspect of the game. Even Simic can jump higher than Kaladze... rolleyes.gif

Oh... rolleyes.gif So can he jump, go first on the ball, position himself, take the ball to the midfield and make a decent pass? Well, I think it's clear enough that he can't do the above but in his fairness, he'd be a very good sub!

Maybe 'impressive' was a strong word to use but he was solid, we even managed to keep a clean sheet in the Camp Nou against Barca with him playing next to the 40 year old Costacurta. I would say he was solid enough and is worthy of a starting berth, when either Paolo or Nesta are injured.

The jumping part is true, but he is good with positioning himself and sending good passes to the midfield.

How come he's solid? He makes (alt least) one BIG mistake in every game he plays. In Camp Nou we kept a clean sheet because of Dida, not Kaladze. That was in fact a very bad game from him (and of course Billy) with numerous mistakes. One that just comes to mind is when he lost the ball to Eto'o and Costacurta could only chop him down and get booked... Why don't you mention the first leg instead when he just stood and stare Giuly kill Dida from inside the box!? rolleyes.gif

He's very bad at positioning, believe me... He can do the easy passes to the other defenders that's true but he can't take the ball up to the midfield.

I don't hate Kala... in fact I used to like him when he played as an LB but now... he's just a mediocre defender that's all. If there's one player for which you can say my opinion is biased, that's Serginho and I can even admit it myself.

I think that goal was both his and Nesta fault.

And the game in the Camp Nou was more Dida's heroics then anything alse, but other then that howler he was pretty good.

You just like him because he was more of a defensive fullback biggrin.gif

Kaladze last season was more than impressive, he and Nesta formed one of our most sensational center backs of the last decade. I'm sorry dst, but I just can't see your point. I think he's on what you call a trial basis. I guess Milan also have the option of plonking him down along with the primavera squad. Maybe a kind of advance preparation for the next seasons when UEFA enforce the youth squad rule.

The joke about it is this guy scored a goal against player depleted and demoted Serie B Juventus. Big deal.

Somehow all our prayers are answered now. We don't Cassano and Ronaldo for a cheap package deal. We just need a couple players who have no Serie A experience and its over.

Grimi shines in Milan debut
Tuesday 9 January, 2007

New signing Leandro Grimi impressed in Milan’s 5-0 friendly victory in Malta, while Pippo Inzaghi bagged a brace.

The Rossoneri hope to rediscover their form in this winter training jaunt in the warmth of the island and have shown signs of recovery.

Maltese champions Birkirkara were thrashed at the Ta Quali stadium in La Valletta in a test ahead of Thuesday’s Coppa Italia quarter-finals against Arezzo.

Ricardo Oliveira opened the scoring on Andrea Pirlo’s assist, followed after the break by Clarence Seedorf, long-term injury casualty Giuseppe Favalli and two from Inzaghi.

All eyes were on January signing Grimi and the Argentine performed well when he came on for the second half.

He was focused and eager to impress, but it looks as if the South American will need several weeks before he can be match fit and ready for a Serie A debut.

The 21-year-old left-back was playing his first game in a Milan jersey since his switch from Racing Club was completed.
