No, I wasn't, and am not, joking. As a Milan fan, naturally, I want us to win the title, and more so given certain players retirement, however, it does not stop me from thinking calmly and rationally.
Inter made a number of excellent signings. There squad is massively improved. In contrast, we have lost 3 of our most important players, of era-defining quality. We have not replaced any of them adequately. We are considerably weaker now.
If that wasn't enough, the momentum, and for the first time in years, the belief is with Inter that this is their year, no more self-doubting. I cannot beleive anyone in our squad is optimistic.
Finally, as if they not only have a very strong team now that will be more than a challenge to cope with, we have an 8-point penalty. We may find that we would have won without such a penalty, becuase the season will be close, but with it, no, I'm afriad it's extremely hard.
When have Inter EVER had a bad team? They always shell out a lot of cash before the season starts but always come up short. And normally after the summer signings a lot of bookies tip them as the favourites to win the championship, but what do they do? they come in third. And it's not because Juve where cheating it's because they manage to screw it on their own, like own goal, defence mix ups that let team like Messina, and Cagliari hold the to a draw or evev beat them. Last season when they beat us in our first tie they where in 2nd place at the time and we where going through a very difficuilt period and they managed to hold on to 2nd place for a while, but then we found our form and we where steam rolling through everyone and when they saw this they began to stumble and not only managed to lose 2nd place but drift away from us by more then 10 pts by losses and draws against small teams. It's in their nature to underachieve and I'm sure that they won't dissappoint thjis time round even if they got 3 good players, which I don't really think will make a big impact at Inter
