Donna: 7 Two or three excellent saves. Solid game from him.

Conti: 6 Struggling to make an impression - I have not once seen him defend.

Bonucci: 5 tbh he had a poor night. Beaten in the air a few times, and didn't command the box much. Must say as yet he doesn't look like his heart is at Milan. He isn't convincing me he wants to be here.

Musacchio: 6 Alright but nothing extraordinary.

Rodriguez: 6 Decent enough, but wasn't heavily involved.

Locatelli: 6 Tidy. Did his cleaning up in midfield like a solid DM would.

Kessie: 7 Our best midfielder - wasn't incredible but barely put a foot wrong. Guy is a great, great player. Becoming my favourite player and took his penalty impeccably.

Calhanoglu: 5 Struggling. Really struggling in this system. Barely does anything of note.

Suso: 8 Terrific first half especially. Goal and an assist. Job done. Can't complain.

Cutrone: 8 Just a terrier. He can only get better - clinical finisher and reads the game like a book.

Borini: 7 Didn't hide, worked hard, and solid enough.

Subs:

Silva: 7 He needs to be more clinical. All that's lacking is the conviction. He had it v Shikiniki but they're cr*p. Crotone might not be Chelsea but it's a different level playing in the league.

Abate: 6 Better than Conti although that's no high praise. But clean enough display.

Mauri: 4 No idea why he was brought on.

Montellia: 6 Team selection was not incredible but it did the job. I just do not know why he continues to force this 4-3-3. It worked tonight against 10 men but stiffer tests await.

Cutrone definitely has something extra than the likes of Paloschi and Petagna

It beats me how you two with such experience manage to make such impatient (even border-immature) remarks. First of all, just remember how stellar Paloschi started off with Milan. He came in an had an impressive run against Chievo, Fiorentina and a few other showings that season, scoring a brace in his debut appearance. Then he simply faded away slowly with the loan deals he was shipped off constantly. Petagna is a whole different story, we'll see how he will do in the future.

But the main issue here is that young strikers need playing time and practice. Cutrone is showing some real good signs, apart from his shooting which remains very problematic (movement with the ball in the box, shot selection, pace control in on ball situations and general finishing) he's shown much talent, aerial strengths, work rate and intelligence.

What I don't get is why the two of you are constantly complaining about Crutone and Borini when it's so obvious that Montella is rotating and giving those two as much chances as possible against weak Serie A opponents and half-amateurs from Macedonia. Hell, we have a young kid who won't see a minute of Serie A playing time if we sign Kalinic and an additional star striker. We've signed Borini as a rotational option so that we can rest some players and mostly to provide us depth and a working-offensive option for game closures. Relax. There'll be plenty of time to be angry at Montella in the future. Now he's just logically rotating.

Remains to be seen IMO. Wouldn't be the first time Inter starts flamboyantly, only to suffer form loss after a few weeks in. Also, keep in mind that Fiorentina is decimated.

I don't understand why folks seem to dislike Conti. I felt he put in a solid performance, well worthy of a 6.5. The only one I'd give an insufficient rating to is Calhanoglu. He just seems not quite with it to me.

It's only the start of the season and this is a new team with a new core/nucleus. I wouldn't be in a position to judge just yet. Let's give this team a couple of months before forming opinions. We could win the next three and loose/draw many others. Or we could end up winning the championship.

But if I was to single out a player so far it is definitely Kessie. For the energy he transmits.

Spalletti is good (better than Mancini IMHO), so Inter could be a threat this year. Napoli looks very good, and Juve is Juve (they are still the ones to beat). Rome I am less convinced about, but they still look like contenders. In other words, this is going to be challenging, even though we have improved.
