QUOTE (han2503 @ Jul 7 2017, 07:01 PM) Both were simply not good enough. I personally would have rather kept Paletta over Zapata as I think that overall he's the better defender and he'd have been a decent backup, but the fact that he's a red card magnet puts him in the unreliable category. I think we would have kept him had he wanted to stay on as a backup and sold Zapata Acceptable as squad in both cases. Both have flaws. Paletta is like Mexes - a red card waiting to happen. Zapata lacks defensive intelligence but can do a job and has pace. QUOTE True, I think we're definitely interested, it's just a matter of whether he'd lower his ridiculous wage demands which atm are just too high. We've offered 8M a year. Apparently he's thinking about it. I'm not sure you can say 'ridiculous' though - the A-listers tend to cost that amount. We're just not used to paying it. QUOTE Modric & Kalinic or Aubameyang & Biglia Modric and Aubameyang (IMG: style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) screw yer 'impossible choice' scenarios (IMG: style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

QUOTE (X-Offender @ Jul 7 2017, 07:31 PM) Depends on what type of formation Montella wants to play. I think Biglia is more suited for 4-2-3-1, but for 4-3-3 I'd get Modric on the spot.
Also, is Aubameyang really an option? That would mean that either we play with two strikers or that Andre Silva warms the bench... I think Bigila can play in the middle of a trio, while Modric already has played in a double pivot for Real. Honestly I think all the players bar Kalinic would be great to have, it's just a matter of whether you want your marquee player to be a striker or a metronome like Modric. I'd personally go for Modric and Kalinic if it came down to it. Well there are a lot of rumours about it and most are saying we actually offered him an 8m per year deal. It's just a matter of whether he'd lower his demands to accept that. I also read that his move to China has fallen through as he doesn't want to go there. So he could be an option. I think they'll try to take a stab at him, if it fails they'll move on to Kalinic and close the deal quickly QUOTE (Danny @ Jul 7 2017, 07:53 PM) Acceptable as squad in both cases. Both have flaws. Paletta is like Mexes - a red card waiting to happen. Zapata lacks defensive intelligence but can do a job and has pace. Well Mexes actually was more of a loose cannon in terms of arguments and such rather than dangerous tackling or stupid fouls. Still, I think Paletta compared to Zapata is a much better defender. Had he been okay with a bench role, I'd keep him over Zapata. QUOTE (Danny @ Jul 7 2017, 07:53 PM) We've offered 8M a year. Apparently he's thinking about it. I'm not sure you can say 'ridiculous' though - the A-listers tend to cost that amount. We're just not used to paying it. He wants something like 12m. And personally I don't think it's sustainable for us QUOTE (Danny @ Jul 7 2017, 07:53 PM) Modric and Aubameyang (IMG: style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) screw yer 'impossible choice' scenarios (IMG: style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Man you can't do that. Treat it as Sophie's Choice!

QUOTE (han2503 @ Jul 7 2017, 09:01 PM) So let me ask you guys this question if the choice were to be between the following 2 scenarios, which would you choose? Modric & Kalinic or Aubameyang & Biglia Biglia and Aubameyang, if we sell Bacca and go like: Biglia - Kessie Suso - Canhanoglu - Bonaventura Aubameyang Modric and Kalinic if we dont sell Bacca. BTW, I dont think that's the case though. We are getting Modric or someone like Modric wether we sell or dont sell. And if we sell Lapa and Bacca, we are getting one striker too.

Corriere della Sera: Aubameyang has always been Montella's first choice for the attack. He has not lost hope in signing the Borussia Dortmund Striker yet. Meanwhile, Kalinic is the alternative. His transfer is currently on standby while Milan work on bringing back Aubameyang.
Biglia will meet today with Lazio president Lotito where he will communicate his will to leave Lazio and join Milan. It is difficult that Lapadula gets included in the potential Biglia deal, seeing that he is already promised to Genoa [Corriere della Sera].
Starting from today, Mirabelli will be in Milanello to have individual conversations with the potentially outgoing Milan players [GdS]. Corriere della Sera report that Mirabelli will speak with Bacca today.
Rodrigo Ely is very close to returning to Alaves. Niang is on the market but Milan want to sell him permanently, loans are excluded [GdS].
Bacca's adventure with Milan is considered at its end. He has an agreement in place with Marseille. However, the nod to overcome is the transfer formula: Marseille want to sign Bacca on loan, while Milan want to sell him and monetize [GdS]
Gazzetta dello Sport report that Yonghong Li is ready to pump in extra budget for Milan in this summer transfer window
BVB want €80m for Aubameyang according to several sources.
Aubamyang doesn't want to go to China &has no other options except Milan who are willing to offer him nothing more than €8m/yr, his father wants €12m/yr. He lowered his original demand (€13m/yr) #Sky Sport Italia's Pedulla says that By Monday we will know if Aubameyang will accept Tianjin's offer. Pedulla also confirms that if Aubameyang stayed in Europe he wants at least €11-12/yr in wages.

Pedulla also confirms that if Aubameyang stayed in Europe he wants at least €11-12/yr in wages. Aub or Kalinic. Absolutely comical. It's literally either a marquee world class signing or an average and underwhelming addition. Aub is world class and we are not going to get him cheap. He's 20 times the player Lukaku is, and is going to cost about the same. And his wages are of a level Milan have to pay to get that kind of quality. Needs to be compromise. Way of looking at it. 1M a year is roughly 20k. That is wages of yesteryear. Multiply that by 10 and you have Pogba. 200k. And he wasn't as well paid as Ibra, at 350k a week. Aub wants 240 a week. If Milan want to be serious, and have a world class player of that quality, Milan will have to pay for it. 9.5M is a fair (if still ludicrous) amount for a top quality player. That the alternative to an 80M player is a 20M player gives you some idea of the downgrade between the two. Just a crying shame we let him go all those years ago. Bad call there. BAD call.
