So anyway, back to transfers.

Various media outlets (gazzetta, mediaset, etc) are reporting that Renato Sanches would prefer to play in England, the poor *******. So he's out.

The Gomez transfer is off, it seems. Not sure why.

And it looks like Mino's going to get his way re: Niang going to Toro. (media seems optimistic that the deal will go through for 12-15M)

You know, I'm starting to think more and more that Andre Silva's purchase was not done in accordance with Montella's requests, but rather to satisfy Fassone and Mirabelli's new friend Jorge Mendes. I also think Aubameyang was a Mirabelli objective more than anything else.

Montella has a clear preference towards players like Belotti, Kalinic and Cutrone.

I have a feeling that Silva will be marginalized and leave by the end of the season. Hopefully I'm wrong.

QUOTE (Danny @ Aug 27 2017, 11:01 PM) *
Going by tonight 'trequartista' is out of the question. I don't know what role he can fit because Jack is better in every department than Cal in the AM slot.

Always so quick to judgment

And not saying that Hakan was good yesterday, he was bad and I was the first to say so in the match thread. But one game does not mean that he's not good/can't improve/adjust to the new team.

The only new player that has so far slotted in seamlessly for me has been Kessie, and even he was having a bad night yesterday. All the others have been patchy. Add to that Hakan is being played in a retreated midfield role which clearly doesn't suit him. I like what I saw from him in the previous games when he was played more centrally and high up the pitch. Bona is a completely different player anyway. If we play a 4-2-3-1 they can co-exist in the same formation.

Right now it's clear to me that we're simply not playing a formation that suits the majority of our players. The only ones thriving atm are Suso and Cutrone, and Cutrone would do well in any formation as he seems to have great positional instincts

QUOTE (Danny @ Aug 27 2017, 11:03 PM) *
Every team needs its Borini. Ours used to be Ambrosini back in the day. The unglamorous hard working dog who took a lot of hate from fans but just kept working at it and didn't let his team down.

The type his team mates appreciate far more than the fans do.

To compare Borini to someone like Ambro is jumping the gun by a mile. No comparison. Borini is just a terrible player, and even after watching him for 5 games straight, I still can't figure out why we even bothered with him

QUOTE (d'Arc.LP @ Aug 28 2017, 08:58 AM) *
But we played with 3-5-2 against Shkendija at Macedonia when Romagnoli was back. I think that Montella is evaluating it and the moment Romagnoli and Bona are back we are going to switch to it.

In a game when Montella played only 3 of our regular starters. He's stuck to the 4-3-3 religiously for all the other games

I think Andre has the quality to break through whatever reservations Montella might have about him. I've been impressed with him every time I've seen him so far. The kids got class, and it would be a shame to waste all that footballing and marketing potential

Agreement between Milan and Torino for Niang could be found on the basis on paid loan+obligation to buy for a total fee of €15M [CM.com]. - Leave f@cker!!!!!

Talks between Fenerbahce and Milan for Gustavo Gomez have broken down. Reason is the distance between offer and demand [Sky]. - Goog, wanted to keep him

Suso's new contract with Milan should run until 2021 or 2022. He is set to earn €3m+bonuses/year [Sky].

Meeting between Suso's agent and Milan was very positive. Player should renew his contract soon [@MilanNewsit]

Sosa has agreed a three-year contract with Trabzonspor. The Turkish side could present a new offer to Milan in the coming hours [Sky].

Paletta's agent will meet with Milan later today as they look to speed up a transfer to Lazio. [@DiMarzio]

Here are my ratings:

Çalhanoğlu - 5 - typical Çalhanoğlu game, nonchalant and mild, precisely why he wasn't good enough for a midtable German team

I'd rather have Bona.

He's as good as Mbappe. He will score for fun if given ammo. He, in this market, will become worth over £150M.

No, I wasn't comparing him to Ambro, I was comparing the dislike for him. Unless you're really young or have a revisionist memory Ambro was absolutely lambasted by our fans. Regularly.

Except when we have someone better anyway.

Niang will be exceptional for Torino. Mark my words. He's just not Milan material. Suso's new deal is pathetic. Donna is on 7M. Why is our best current player based on form getting less than half that?

5M. And that is so, cos we were risking loosing him for free next season.

So, not 7M huh ? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Nvm, I think that only cos of the circumstances he is earning that. There were 2 options:

1. Keep him for low wages, loose him next year for free. Invest 25-30m for a new goalkeeper who wouldnt even be close to Donna.

2. Give him big wages with a high clause, so he either stays happy with us, or he goes somewhere else in the future and we get 75m for him.

I think the 2nd option was much more worth.

Donna is on 6m, his brother on 1m, so basically 7m...

Some points re Danny

1. Fillipo has said before he even played for us that he didn't rate him. I don't know what he did in the German league, I start from a clean slate with him, the game against Crotone he was the one who was involved in 2 of our 3 goals. I was impressed with him in that one and the game against the Macedonians. 1 bad game and 2 good ones won't make my mind about him up, In another thread I listed him under my "questionable" signings, simply because I don't know much of anything about him and his style could be something of a hindrance in terms of him making it with us. You have jumped to your conclusion after one bad game, which I think is pre-mature.

2. As I said, Bona and Hakan are completely different players from what I've seen from Hakan so far. I don't see them as interchangeable at all. If we're going to persist with a back 4 then both can co-exist happily in a 4-2-3-1

3. Disagree about Cutrone and Mbappe. Cutrone is clearly a diamond in the rough, his touch, passing and involvement in the game is much weaker than Mappe's. The kid's a great finisher, but his overall game needs a lot of work to get anywhere near Mbappe's

4. Ambro was a clutch player, and this coming from someone who always preferred Rino over him. Borini is just a poor player simple as that. The dislike can't be compared. If you want to compare Borini to someone compare him to Muntari

5. Disagree. I think Silva right now is the much better overall player and you can see this in how they involve themselves in the game. Cutrone is showing Pippo Inzaghi-like instincts, but so far I don't see the buildup work I've seen from Silva from him. Against Skhendija he got 1 chance - buried it. Against Cagliari he got 1 chance - buried it

Well unless Gabon are about to play in a world cup qualifier v Italy (are they?) I would suspect he's implying Italy as a move?

Maybe his flight to Gabon has a stop in Italy. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
