Because we were about to get shame faced against f@cking Crotone (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Even I'm ecstatic, and I didn't even know we were playing this 30 minutes before it started

It's good that Milan would progress but if it's like this I refuse to be happy.

To be fair,

(1) This was a Coppa Italia match. We never take it seriously.
(2) Many big clubs in the past have been kicked out early from the their domestic cups, even against third category teams.
(3) We were playing with our second string. Not one player from the starting line-up tonight played against Sampdoria.

Let's not make a drama out of this.

3 avoidable excuses. We should take it seriously , we are no big club anymore and our
first string team aren't exactly the galacticos.

We've never taken it seriously, so why should we take it now? We're not a big team, but we're still a big club. And since our first string is so average, then our second string is going to be crap. Two can play at this game. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Because it's our only realistic peace of silverware we might win since small teams tend to do good at the coppa. A big club by history yes , definately not in the present and probably not in the near future too. Considering our first string doesnt have the quality of Milan's seconds string a few years ago , I fail to understand why would Milan risk of getting eliminated by Crotone by playing the leftovers , esspecially since our first team can't compete for any other titles ?

It doesn't matter whether we can win it or not. We've never taken this competition seriously. In the last 28 years we've only won it once! So, whether we had a great team and fighting for the title or a crap team sinking at lower places, it doesn't change the fact that the Coppa Italia has never been in this club's ambitions.

That's why I said a big club and not a big team. A club with glorious history will always remain a big club regardless of the form it might be experiencing.

Re:what I said in the beginning. Plus we were playing a Serie B side. Plus we need our starting players fresh for the league games, which is what really matters for us if we wanna aim for that 3rd spot.

I agree with Nova here, there are no guarantees that we'll be ending this season in the European places. The Coppa is a good chance at silverware and also a back door entrance into Europe so to speak, so why p!ss it away? It's not like we're playing games every 3 days on a regular basis, and if we want to be playing with the big boys that is what we need to do anyway.

I fail to see why Miha would risk getting KO'd by playing a complete 2nd string, with a formation that hasn't really worked for us and players that haven't played as a team together before.

For me that's just stupid and short sighted

I'm not justifying Miha's choices here. Doing a complete overhaul was unnecessary. But we don't take the Coppa seriously, that's a fact. Even if it means a EL entry, it won't change much. In fact, I'd rather play another Europe-less season then play in the EL, where I know the team again won't take it seriously and in the end it will just drain energy from our players.

It shouldn't drain energy, these guys are getting paid good amounts. Milan should be competing in more than just Serie A, if we end up in the EL positions this season, i'd be happier with that than somewhere in mid-table

Sick of not seeing any European teams come to play us in the San Siro

I would agree with you if Milan was the old Milan with the likes of Kaka , Pirlo , etc still playing . But where do THESE current players including the trainer get the nerve not to take the Coppa & EL seriously ??!! Who do they think they are ?? They ride on the fame other players had to work hard for to achieve . To act like some big shots who feel too good for the Coppa/EL gets on my system as they would not even come close winning the EL with the quality they have. What they need is to get their feet back on the ground, and realise they don't have that Milan DNA. And every match you play drains energy , it's what makes you a professional player to compete on different platforms ...
