Agreed. Acceptable money for his decent veteran presence. I hope he ends up being the 3rd CB that is able to step in pretty often to give rest and in case of injury.

I actually see Mexes as a starter. Him and the left-footed CB Mihajlovic has asked for (Romagnoli, Nastasic, Abdennour etc.) should form the defensivee duo. That's because I rate him higher than Alex, Zapata and Paletta. Unless we're bringing in a second quality CB, which I have my doubts.

In my best case we get two quality CBs. One high quality guy to lead the line and one younger promising CB. In that scenario Mexes would be my 3rd CB. I wouldn't at all be surprised if Mexes starts the season as a starter though. I really hope we part ways with two of those other three. I don't even really care which we keep. Who ever gets money bid for them can go.

Agreed. Unless we sign 2 high quality defenders, Mexes imo is an undisputed starter ahead of the others. He's just a great all round player.

For €8 million it's not a bad deal, but yeah, €3.5 million per season is too much.

Now we can finally concentrate on signing a quality CM and a quality CB. Reports saying we've offered €16 million to Roma for Romagnoli, and that there's a meeting planned with Athletic next week regarding Laporte.

By the way, Adriano's signing excludes that of Nastasic or any other non-EU players, since we've already filled up all available places.

I'm glad we are doing business swiftly and aptly this summer, Id love to see Ibra signed asap, but I think that deal may take sometime if it happens.

The defence should be our next attention now we have Luiz & Bacca, although of course Berlu said we need 3 strikers.

Alex is the best of those three but he's also the oldest and most injury prone. Makes him a lot less appealing to me.

The 3.5 million is a lot but the wages of Pazzini and Matri (once we ship him off) should cover it. He looks to me like a vast improvement over Pazzini as back up striker and 8 million isn't too steep a price to pay in this market.

I would love to get both of those players. I have a feeling it will be one or the other though.

The 3.5m is just a report. Hopefully it's more around 2-2.5m

Bacca is reportedly going to earn 2.5-3m, so it wouldn't make much sense for Adriano to make that much. We'll see what it is when there's more concrete news on the deal

As for the CBs, I'd love to have both, get rid of Zapata and Paletta. But I get the feeling it will be just one for sure. If it were up to me, I'd take Laporte, his ceiling is higher than Ramagnoli's imo, though he'd probably cost more, though it does not seem like we have any issues with money at this point. We paid 8m for Adriano when we could have waited till January and got him for free. A few months ago we know what route Galliani would have taken, now he just throws money at them and the deal is done within a day

Agreed, especially about Ibra, but I get the feeling he'll be a last week addition, as a big "gift" for the fans.

Or, something else that's been inkling away at me. Italian media is reporting that the Bee deal could be finalised in mid-July instead of August as it has been put on the fast track since there were a couple of issues related with the Chinese investors that have now been resolved. So I could see Ibra being the big signing that welcomes in the new era once Bee and his consortium of investors officially become stakeholders of the club

I'm wishing, hoping, praying, crossing my fingers that the 3rd one will be Ibra. I firmly believe that with him back in the team we'll be title contenders and will put up a serious challenge to Juve

True, but Zapata and Paletta both are terrible in their own ways. I guess if I was backed into a corner and had to choose one of those 2, I'd sell Zapata and keep Paletta. We'd probably make more money off of Zapata anyway, plus he's more instable and a bigger liability than Paletta imo

Paolo Bianchessi (a reporter for an Italian TV station) said that Matri will be sold, Niang and Suso will get loaned and only one of Cerci or Honda will stay. Menez and SES will stay

I'd rather ship both of them out. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif) Got the wrong guy from Pescara. Should have bought Verratti and Perin, or all three. These guys were solid performers. Menez is too selfish in his game and either he changes when we get Ibra or better yet, should be sold for a good price. Same for Shaarawy.

Exactly, same here. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) Zapata and his neat passes directly to opposition players are legendary.
