I personally feel that this is the end of the Berlusconi era. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) One way or another. 48% still is significant control, or should I say, sway. Throw in some corporate boadroom politics, and some of the other smaller share holders could switch camps, change alliances.

But even if we leave this scenario aside, I think there is a fair chance that these new investors will aim for a bigger stake within the next few years. Provided this project kicks off. Not to mention the fact that no one will sit aside while a bumbling idiot keeps on making wrong moves.

Not when they have thrown in more than half a billion into the frying pan! There is hope still.

We'll see. But for me, this Mihajlovic appointment already stinks to high heaven and has already put a damper on what was supposed to be a summer of change

QUOTE (acid911 @ Jun 9 2015, 05:20 PM) *
Nah, there has to be something here. FFP only allows new owners one season to splash the cash before the regulations kick in. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) And if we are to spend in excess of whatever amount is thrown around, 100, 150 million, then the time to do it is now. Unless of course, the new owners find it pleasurable to pay fines.

May only concern is that the lack of Champions League football limits our options greatly, in terms of proven players at least. Galliani said last month that there will be a lot of signings this window, and for better or worse, I believe him this time. Because otherwise, we're looking at an even more devaluation of our brand and prestige.

Thing is, that nowadays, to get real quality into the team you have to spend a LOT. 150m can only realistically bring you in 3 world class players, max 4, and even that is stretching it.

Look at the rumours swirling around atm. 35m for Jackson Martinez, another 35 for Kondogbia. And neither player would I go so far as saying is world class or close to it. Neither have even played in a top league!

So for someone really worth having, like a Gundogan or Hummels or basically any real top quality player, you'd have to shell out at least 45 to 50 on each.

And that's what worries me. I can't see Galliani closing on that kind of deal. He'll try to lowball the club until they get p!ssed off and basically shut us out, as has happened in the past. So he'll go for quantity once again instead of quality.

Also, the fact that we're consistently being linked to strikers ONCE AGAIN, and no midfielders aside from Kondogbia, who isn't an all our creative/playmaker type player is even more worrying.

QUOTE (acid911 @ Jun 9 2015, 05:20 PM) *
Agreed. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif) Still even with the Miha connection, I'll hope against hope that we go for a better choice, and a proven coach that can stamp his authority and philosophy from the first match of the season. Not someone that learns on the job and gets paid good money to do so.

More than that, I hope for some sense and say from the guys that are bringing in the investment. Footballing sense.

Like I said, I think it's a done deal for Miha, just waiting for Pippo's termination to be official at this point

QUOTE (acid911 @ Jun 9 2015, 05:20 PM) *
That said, I don't think Carlo would have come. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) He's not just the luckiest cat around, he knows that even with the investment, the Milan job will not match the highs of say Manchester City or Bayern Munich and other high profile clubs. I believe he would have said no either way, and the wait for an extra few days was just a ruse.

Wish him all the best for his surgery, but come on, he did not mention taking a rest, and year off, when he was coaching Real Madrid. Had he been allowed to continue there, pretty sure he would have for one more season.

Who knows... He's always said that if he were to return to Italy it would only be back with us.

Plus, I think he knew his time at Real was up months ago, which is why he's doing the surgery now.

Thanks man, you're a lifesaver! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/king.gif)

Raiola was with Galliani tonight. There was a phone call with Ibra, who said yes to our offer of €7 million per season. Now we'll have to negotiate with PSG.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic reportedly told Milan he wants a return, so now the club must contact Paris Saint-Germain.

The Rossoneri have been trying to bring Ibra back to San Siro for some time and the introduction of new investor Bee Taechaubol paved the way for big spending.

^ what X said

According to Sky Sport Italia, CEO Adriano Galliani met with agent Mino Raiola today and during that encounter spoke personally to Ibrahimovic on the phone.

It’s believed the Sweden international declared his interest in accepting a three-year contract with Milan.

Now the club must deal directly with PSG, who do not seem intent on releasing their star striker.

However, Ibra will be 34 in October and his current contract only runs to June 2016, so if he demands to leave then it’d change the situation.

Ibrahimovic was at Milan from August 2010 to July 2012.

As expected, Milan have officially signed Rodrigo Ely on a new contract until June 2019.

The 21-year-old Brazilian defender grew up through their youth academy, but had a series of loan spells and his one-year contract with Avellino expired.

It’s reported his return was specifically requested by new Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic.
wish we a more high profile manager for once , not this guy!

He underwent a medical this morning and will be with the side in pre-season.

Well, bring the tall guy in. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy.gif) Generous of him to accept our current scenario, what with no Europe at all. Might pave the way for some other high profile signings too, once players know that there is a bit of a project here. Hopefully sense prevails at PSG, Cavani has performed rather well for them this season.

Galliani flew to Portugal this morning for a second meeting with Porto about Jackson Martinez. Looks like we're very intent on signing him. Porto want €35 million. His signing wouldn't exclude that of Ibra, though.

Link

My only worry is the cost of these operations w.r.t. the players' age. Ibra and Jackson will be 34 and 29 in October, respectively. Is it worth it?

No imo, not if we're intent on Ibra. For me it should be an either/or thing.

If we had Ibra, Destro would be more than good enough next to him as he'd greatly benefit from Ibra's creative input

But, not to sound like a broken record, all this effort for strikers and aside from Kondogbia we're not being linked with any really good top class midfield talent, which is seriously worrying for me

Once again, Galliani is not focusing on the more crucial positions

If we don't have a strong midfield next season it's pointless to spend big money on defence and attack imo.

Ibra alone will be effective enough to take us back to UCL then we see options available next summer. Destro will be a decent back up to Ibra would have prefer Pazzini but for age factor, and Niang will be the youngster in attack while at least one of Cerci and Menez should be offloaded to free space or cash in. Remember we still have to fortify the midfield (Felipe Anderson if De Jong stay, Kondogbia could wait till next summer) and defense (one of Thiago Silva, Mats Hummels and Miranda should be brought in to lead our defense).
Galliani need to be proactive than ever now so as not squander available funds. It would be worst not to invest right.

Agreed

But imo, midfield should be priority number one, above all else.

Midfield is our weakest area, and has been for a while now. It's the most important department on the pitch imo, and our management have let it fester to the current state it's in now

I expect a large amount of players to leave tbh. Menez and Cerci will definitely be sold/let go. Then you have all those players in midfield and defence who are not needed as well. I expect some serious changes to happen as early as this month.

And it seems like we're already on track with that, Sky is reporting that it's already a done deal with Porto for Jackson, tomorrow Galliani will be going to France, supposedly for Ibra and Kondogbia

Really wish he'd pick up Moutinho as well while he's at it. always really liked him, plus he's exactly the type of player we need in midfield

Agreed, that's my main concern. That we're looking at basically strikers and only one mid. When midfield has been a huge issue for a while now

And if reports are true and Miha wants to use a 4-3-1-2, then it's even more crucial that we at least get 2 really creative players for that midfield.

Moutinho and Gundogan are the names that immediately pop to mind and if we really do have the kind of money the media is saying we do, it shouldn't be that difficult to get either one of them or even both.

Abate has renewed for four years.

After Dani Alves gave him a scare by using Milan to land a Barcelona contract. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) Good news, though. Four years is a substantial time frame for someone like him, meaning there is every chance that he may stay here even longer. Hopefully Mexes (at 1.5 million) and de Jong are next.
