QUOTE (acid911 @ Jul 2 2015, 09:17 PM) I'd rather ship both of them out. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif) Got the wrong guy from Pescara. Should have bought Verratti and Perin, or all three. These guys were solid performers. Menez is too selfish in his game and either he changes when we get Ibra or better yet, should be sold for a good price. Same for Shaarawy. SES was never at Pescara (IMG: style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) And Menez if I'm not mistaken had one of his best seasons (statistically) at PSG playing next to Ibra. Anyway, if we get Ibra, plus taking into consideration Bacca and Adriano, Menez will most likely not be a starter And anyway, I think if a solid offer came in for him, we'll let him go ------------------ Some more good news Official: Birsa has joined Chievo Verona on a 3 year deal. No word on how much we got for him Bacca has passed his medical tests and is officially a Milan player as well.

(IMG: style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG: style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) I saw them playing together several times, and both he and Ibra just did not have that flow and chemistry in any of the matches. Not sure Menez will be glued to the bench right away, but I'd rather just sell him if we're getting Ibra. If not, he can stay.

QUOTE (Danny @ Jul 2 2015, 10:10 PM) What a busy busy day it's been.
I have to retract my criticism a tad of this mercato.
We've shipped out a glut of dead wood, none of which will be missed and we've managed to get a fair few million for them into the bargain.
We've now signed three players - I won't lie and say I know a lot about any of them, truthfully, but their CVs are all pretty good:
Adriano has exactly 1 in 2 from 8 years in Ukraine - that's a really good record and includes 32 in 65 in UCL/UEL. He's actually a fantastic striker - he scored 9 in the UCL last season. I'm pleased with this guy. 80K a week for a guy who can score a lot at the highest levels is good business.
And there's still plenty of time for more business. Total spent is 58m so far, that is more than the last 2 transfer windows combined and we haven't even got to half of the signings we'll make imo

QUOTE (Danny @ Jul 2 2015, 10:16 PM) I would still like to see the Alex Zapata partnership given a shot. If Alex could stay fit I really feel it's a strong duo. Maybe that's what Sini's thinking too.
Maybe he wants completely new CB's.
I have no idea. Really? You're still on that one? (IMG: style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) (IMG: style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Zapata has been terrible for a while, his passing is a liability for the team. Alex keeps getting injured so a strong duo with him as a starter is a stretch. And with someone new coming for sure, I wouldn't let Zapata anywhere near the starting 11 unless he's the last defender we have available. Alex and Zapata could be decent or even good next to each other. However, we're going to sign someone who will most likely be a sure starter ahead of either one of them, so I can't see that happening. We don't know which one will stay, but we will sell one of those 3 CBs for sure this summer

QUOTE (han2503 @ Jul 2 2015, 09:12 PM) Total spent is 58m so far, that is more than the last 2 transfer windows combined and we haven't even got to half of the signings we'll make imo To actually see us spending money on decent players is truly wonderful. Bacca was only outscored last season in La Liga by Neymar, Messi, Ronaldo and Griezman. That's a pretty honourable list and while I would be premature in saying he's a world class striker, he's a 30M striker who's scored twice in the UEL final. He's not quite Sergio Aguero but he sure ain't far off. Adriano we've done brilliantly to get. Think about Honda. We just wouldn't spend the money to get him in the summer, instead waiting to get him free. Now we actually just spend the money to get the player now. There's a completely different mentality going on here and it's no longer Milan penny-pinching and refusing to part with cash. Because we're spending Abu Dhabian cash where Silvio refused to part with his own. And I've hopes for Bertolacci - I'm praying to see us get Witsel or another quality regista to add to him and De Jong. And I'd be very happy with that midfield. Defence, though, needs a LOT of work. Antonini might just be first choice now we've shelled out the 4M for him, and Abate surely will be first choice at RB, but CB is a complete mess.

QUOTE (han2503 @ Jul 2 2015, 09:19 PM) You take Monto, I've got this one (IMG: style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) QUOTE Zapata has been terrible for a while, his passing is a liability for the team. Eh, he hasn't played! Except for his country! QUOTE Alex keeps getting injured so a strong duo with him as a starter is a stretch.

We don't know which one will stay, but we will sell one of those 3 CBs for sure this summer Ideally I'd rip up the whole CBs and start again. I don't really want any of them, not Alex, Zaps, Paletta, Mexes...but that isn't going to happen.

QUOTE (Danny @ Jul 2 2015, 10:24 PM) You take Monto, I've got this one (IMG: style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Meh, don't care about him anymore, I only insisted on him before because I knew for a fact that because we had no money, he was the best that we could do. Now that it's very apparent that we've got cash to burn, I'd sell him along with Poli if it were up to me. QUOTE (Danny @ Jul 2 2015, 10:24 PM) Eh, he hasn't played! Except for his country! When he did play for usd last season he was terrible. Don't care about what he does for his country, he was good in the World Cup as well Plus even when he's on a good run, he always has a mistake in him, especially with his wayward passing right into the opposition's feet Like I said, we have cash now, just a few months ago we had to accept guys like Zapata, Paletta, Monto as the best we could get for practically no cash since that was what our budget permitted. Now we do have money, and we should all expect better of our players. QUOTE (Danny @ Jul 2 2015, 10:24 PM) Ideally I'd rip up the whole CBs and start again. I don't really want any of them, not Alex, Zaps, Paletta, Mexes...but that isn't going to happen. I'd say we're covered at FB, agreed on that. Antonelli, DS and Abate should be enough (hopefully Abate has a better season in terms of injuries, same with DS) And yeah, we do have major issues at the centre of defence. For me Zapata and Paletta should be definite outs. Mexes and Alex when they played last season where our obvious best CBs by a country mile when compared to the rest. Mexes edging out Alex because of Alex's injuries. That's why I'd keep those 2 only from our current roster. Mexes is a great squad player to have, no matter how you feel about him there is no doubting his abilities as a player and defender. Sure he has an odd game or two during an entire season where he lets his concentration slip or his temper get the best of him, but overall, he'd still be my first choice to partner anyone we purchase. He tends to bring the best out of whoever is playing next to him and we saw this with both Zapata and Rami in terms of how much better they performed when they were given a solid run playing next to him. Alex is still a good defender imo, sure his injuries are an issue but if he's going to be 3rd or 4th choice that shouldn't be much of an issue
