Allegri: "Tomorrow I will play with three strikers"

Tactical flexibility?

Certainly Allegri has seemingly found his mojo of late (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

There was a fuss here on Milanfan. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) Seriously though, I am not sure what to expect of this ordeal come the summer. I think if Allegri stays (which I am positive he will), then there is little chance of Inzaghi staying. And even by some weird coincidence he gets a contract extension for another year, there's an inch of a chance he'll play.

I think it would have been best if Inzaghi retired at the end of 2007 season, after winning the CL and all that.

Even here the second snub went quiet. Of cource he won't stay, he'll be 39 soon. How many 39 y.o striker do you know that are still playing in a top club? Even on a rare occasions he played a lot of minutes this season (PSG and Novara), you could see that he's way past his prime (a difficult injury at this age will speed the process and he had that last season). And it's not like we have strikers deficiency, and I don't think it will change next season.

I disagree. I don't think those 2 matches prove anything; Inzaghi has been out of link with the team and system. If Allegri kept giving him more then just 5 minutes in a match that's already won and no one cares about, you'd seen Pippo score once or twice. He's old, shabby, rusty and slower, but he has his instinct, he knows his timing and he still has the will-power.

I think those matches showed why Allegri don't have much faith in Pippo. Yes, he could have play him more at times but it wouldn't have changed the big picture imo. I love Pippo and I would rather him to retire while he's still on top than seeing him struggle as a bench player.

He said he doesn't want Arsenal to crush us in our own half.

Pippo should have retired/changed team this January, when it was abundantly clear Allegri had zero plans for him.

^ Nice. So who might play instead of Benayoun?

Oxlade-Chamberlain will most likely start in the center behind RvP with Gervinho and Walcott out wide.

The bigger problem is Rosicky, because he's their only other mid who can play next to Song in the center of midfield.

That's a very offensive line-up, ready to be taken advantage from us. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/devil.gif)

Yep.

All we'll have to do is sit back so they don't have any space on the wings and hit them on the counter.

This should be a fairly straight forward game, hopefully they don't make a meal out of it by allowing a cheap goal early in the game because that would complicate things for us.

Although, having watched Arsenal in their last 2 games, I'm pretty confident we'll score at least 1 goal, which will put the tie beyond reach for them

Clearly he wants to end his career with us. I respect it, I have no problem with him staying on minimum pay and as a bonus, with a better treatment by Allegri. That's fair IMO.

Again, disagree. What can 2 matches tell you? 2 lousy matches with zero importance. Pippo is a classic scorer, you give him the ball and he'll do something with it; problem is, on both occasions we didn't have our regular midfield and there was no motivation for pushing forward - that's why his positive characteristics didn't come out.

There was motivation for pushing forward because these are the games you need to prove yourself to the coach if you want more chances in more important games. Especially when you already have many options in your position in front of you. I remember thinking during the PSG games that the old Pippo would have scored at least twice by now but that was just a really fading version of him

No, I meant motivation in his teammates. They're the ones who pass the ball.

The misses he made against PSG are a logical result of little game practice. Just a bit more and he'd net one in, I'm sure.

Well, I'm not so sure, and even if he scores, I don't think one goal is gonna really change something. When you have 4-5 players ahead of you in the pecking order, you gotta take every little chance you get.

I just think that in this stage of his career Pippo can't offer us much anymore. Is it sad because it's Pippo, a player we all love and enjoyed for many years? Yes. But I have seen many great players in their twilight and many don't know when it's time to move on.
