It was Lucio who missed the man because he was a step slow. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) And of course that guy (Dan Alves) was IMO the reason for both goals, particularly the 2nd one where instead of giving away a corner, he tried something special by keeping the ball in. Pathetic, beyond pathetic. Beyonder even, if it were a word.

Silva and Lucio had a little exchange of words though late into the 2nd half when Brazil's defense disappeared.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) The channel I was watching the game on had a really poor quality, so I'm not 100% sure. but I remember thinking it was Silva because he had no armband on him. are you sure Silva wasn't the defender closest to Santa Cruz on the first goal?

Pretty much. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I saw it on the TV, and rarely have I ever seen Silva get beaten. At least like this. It was the age and old legs that caught up with Lucio on the first goal. And like I said, Alves was nowhere to be seen too. Besides, Silva usually plays as LCB, just like good old Paolo.

So yeah, even though the only way to be sure would be to watch highlights, I am fairly certain it was not #33.

an hour of football and Messi had presented his teammates with 8 or 9 great chances...

edit: and another one now for Di Maria's goal... and this is the guy that supposedly only thrives on others' work...

Di Maria by the way is a terrible diver, always on the ground when he's pressed.

Well, I don't wanna spoil it, but Costa Rica was their opponent. Let's wait to see what happens when a stronger team get's them. But it's undeniable - the guy has skill and talent beyond the normal.

Talking about diving, I found Messi's dive also pathetic.

Costa Rica was the opponent of all them... and apart from Messi for players that are considered world class they did not look all that good...

When he went down looking for a penalty in the first half? Well, he fell down easily but there was contact. That's always a foul outside the box. He's not the fairest player out there though for sure.

The ref was making some weird decisions by the way. I remember I've seen him before and he was like that.

The Uruguay game was pretty good, how many chances did they miss though?! Diego has turned into the Man United Diego at the moment. A world apart from what he looked like in the WC last year. To be fair his build up play is still good but when it comes to putting it in the net, it just isn't happening. Suarez missed a few too, Uruguay should have won, and easily.

I thought once Mexico scored they were going to come back and win it, half a shame it got disallowed from the neutral perspective.

Well, if Mexico would have won the match, it really would not have been undeserved.

So, Uruguay against Argentina in the quarters?

This. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I hope he picks it up against Argentina, as they'll need all the firepower they can get upfront.

Yup, yup, yup, can't wait for this match. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/innocent.gif) I would have liked this as a semi-final, but really what can we say. Except that Brazil win today's match, else in case of a draw, they'll have to face Chile in the quarters. Not my idea of a good time, the Chileans sure can play a bit.

Even a Brazil win today might cause them to meet Chile, depending on the result of the other game.

On the other hand, If Brazil lose, they are out. Our players would return early and Ganso's price migh go down a bit (IMG:style_emoticons/default/devil.gif)

Hopefully I will be able to say the same thing about Brazil's match against Ecuador.

Good result for Brazil. They now need to beat Ecuador by two or more goals in order to catch the fisrt place.

They are now 1-1 at half time, as I write this. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) A scorching header by Pato, and sad howler by Cesar (though he made up for it by a super save just before the half time whistle) meaning all hell is about to break lose. What a last match to end the group stages, a lot riding on these 45 minutes.
