QUOTE (kurtsimonw @ Apr 4 2012, 02:41 AM) They struggled to beat Valencia already and like I said, they've drawn 2 recently due to ridiculous officiating. Sorry. I don't like Barca much either, but I could care less about La Liga. However I thought I ought to post this: Barca should be just 1 point behind

Coentrao red was when Madrid were down and frustrated, the no-Messi red changed the game. Madrid would've won and gained the head-to-head advantage, so basiclaly Barca essentially gained 4.5 wrongly in that game alone. Then the BS free kicks in recent weeks that resulted in goals cost Madrid 4 points, so that's 8.5 points already. Then a late Barca free kick allow them to tie a game late at 2-2, when it wasn't a foul, so 9.5 points.

You know, we've all been saying how La Liga is such a poor league, with Barça and Madrid dominating and all the other clubs not even coming close to being competitive. How their defenses suck and how Messi would have it more difficult if he played, for example, in Italy. However, looking at the big picture, 5 of the 8 semifinalists in CL and EL are Spanish clubs. Madrid and Barça in CL; Bilbao, Valencia and Atletico in EL. So, my question is the following: is La Liga really that bad, or are Barça and Madrid just too strong for everybody, not only Spanish sides? I'm starting to lean towards the latter possibility.

I think La Liga is just bad. Firstly, the weakest team in Serie A is tactically and defensively much better then the weakest La Liga team. Madrid and Barcelona are worlds away from the top two teams in Serie A, but I don't think Bilbao, Valencia and Atlectico are so much apart from say Inter, Roma, Lazio or Udinese. Problem is, Serie A teams just don't care about the EL, it's like they want to go out. Just mind Roma this season.

QUOTE (Fillipo Simone @ Apr 6 2012, 10:32 PM) Problem is, Serie A teams just don't care about the EL, it's like they want to go out. Just mind Roma this season. I'm not so sure about that. Udinese fought with all their potential but couldn't get past Alkmaar. Lazio was not even close to Atletico. Roma were having their huge transition period in July/August, and Palermo are just crap. Perhaps they might not play their best line-ups in the group stages, but when the going gets tough, they take it very seriously, but they're not good enough. Serie A is not good enough. There's a huge decline in quality compared to ten years ago. If it wasn't for the random Milan and Inter CL triumphs in 2007 and 2010, the league would have lost their fourth spot much sooner.

Reading all this makes me feel even less interested for La Liga. You basically got one Mourinho team which by default is repulsing to me and another team of crooks and magical divers.
