Galliani: "Fabregas? Eh ..."

Based on what has been said on this board already today I'll guess that since he didn't say No, that means he really isn't coming. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Still, how does a Kaka + Fabregas + Montolivo mercato sound? Oh I think I just peed a little.

There seems to be a lot of people here who, in my opinion, over rate Cassano and under rate Montolivo. Firstly, we got Cassano on a free so anything we get out of his sale/transfer is a good bonus. Second, to put it simply, there is a reason that Cassano has burned through so many teams during his career. His talent is undeniable but the risk that comes from his inconsistent attitude and fitness problems significantly lowers his market value. This is why the interest in him comes from small teams the can gamble on him because if it works he will improve the teams drastically. If he was a surer bet he'd have better teams calling. While I'm not fully convinced by Montolivo I think its pretty clear that he is a good player on a pretty bad team. He has qualities that we desperately need in our midfield. No player is a guarenteed success and all come with some risk but Montolivo has never had the opportunity to play with teammates that are of his quality (and better). I think having Ibra and Pato to feed instead of a secondrate striker like Gilardino can make all the difference. Despite what some of you think, a young solid Italian with some potential to improve is equal to, in terms of market value, a player in his prime with a fickle attitude and still hasn't managed to mature mentally.

In regards to Cassano's fitness, I think it is ridiculous to give him a free pass on coming into this season out of shape. Anyone who has ever seriously trained for a sport can tell you that it is not that hard to drop weight and get to a proper weight to perform at a high level. It is most certainly realistic to expect that he manage it over a few months with the team. It just takes consistency and since he paid to perform at a high level I expect him to make the necessary steps to do so. His failure to do this is another mark of his immaturity.

I agree. Plus, I don't think that Cassano himself is thrilled to stay as he wants to play for Italy in the Euro next summer, and Prandelli already told him that he needs to get enough playing time to get there. Right now he's only 4th choice and unless he somehow improves his shape dramatically, that won't change.

I think he's gonna move to Fiorentina or Genoa soon and I'm o.k with that.

My logic goes like this:

We have a very good player that can also be a top class player. What we should get for such a player is either another player of the same caliber or the right amount of money. Nothing less.

And so far, all combinations I've read don't go in that direction.

The thing is, I don't think he has the motivation to work hard in order to become that top class player he can potentially be. He's a player that more suited to be a star in a mediocre team rather to succeed at Milan where he needs to fight with top players for a spot. It has been 7 month since his move from Sampdoria and I don't see any improvement at all. Right now Ibra, Pato and Robinho are way ahead of him in the pecking order and as long as they are healthy he won't even come as a sub like on Saturday. I would rather selll him and have the much more motivated Palo and Pippo as 4th and 5th choice. Montolivo maybe not the first player on people's wish list, but we are in need of a player of his role more than we need this version of Cassano and it seems that we won't get much better than Montolivo or Aquilani for a CM.

On montolivo and cassano.

Ofcourse this deal isn't fair. Cassano is far superior. But looking out our team, we need someone like montolivo more than cassano especially since Kaka is coming in.

I think both deals are excellent for our team. We need creative players and we got 2.

Nothing interesting, really. He just says how we're the top Italian club at the moment, and when asked about Kaka', he answers "We've just won the Super Cup and you already ask me about Kaka'?" to the journalists.

News update on Fabregas:

Insiders have leaked some info regarding Mino Raiola's latest work on fabregas.

Heres how the deal works so far:

Raiola has managed to negotiate a fee of 38m payable over 3 years. approx. 13m/yr

Its expected that we'll go in there with players like Emanuelson and possibly flamini to try and reduce the price.

But 38m cash and we can have him is what Wenger has agreed to.

Wenger also said that Fabregas won't be playing the first game against Udinese because "he's out of shape yet", which I'm fairly sure is a big, fat lie. His departure seems quite a certain thing at this point.

Honestly though, if Galliani manages to land Kaka' on loan and Fabregas for the price stated above by Blue, then Allegri will have at disposal a freaking winning machine!
