I think you're jumping the gun there blue. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) As to the rumours that you posted, the Kaka deal would be ridiculously good, if it were actually true, no matter your feelings as to whether he should come back or not, you can't deny that it would be a great deal. The Montolivo one not so much, again, if we have to exchange Cassano for him, then there is no way in hell that that's a good deal. Cassano, even with a belly 10 times what it currently is now, is still a top class player, and Montolivo is simply not anywhere near Cassano's level. Personally I want to see Cassano staying, I think he'll be great for us this season, just like he was last season, he made some huge contributions for our Scudetto run-in and he'll make big contributions next season in both the league and the CL I think Paloschi is the one who will suffer either way, so imo he should be the striker loaned out. If it came down to a choice, the Allegri would choose Pippo over him every time, and I really can't blame him for that. Palo would probably only see the stands, while Cassano is a huge asset to have coming off the bench or as a starter if someone is injured or off form. Montolivo won't be that pricey, paying 10m for him shouldn't be a big deal considering we through money at Genoa to get an unkown like El Sharaawy (sp?)

QUOTE (X-Offender @ Aug 7 2011, 02:06 PM) Montolivo for Cassano would be too good to be true. ???? Why? If we get money plus Montolivo then sure, but no way are they on the same level. It would be a loss on our part. I really don't understand the sudden turn-around in regards to Cassano some of you guys have taken.

Sure his fitness is an issue, but that is something that he'll have the entire season to work on, but it's not that big an issue that you would exchange him for someone like Montolivo

He clearly needs to lose weight for a start and could have easily achieved this over summer yet we still make excuses saying he has the season to work on this? To me he is now dead weight, he has no great desire to improve his fitness and seems happy playing these cameo roles. Taking all of this into account I'd be happy with Montolivo for him. I think Cassano excels when he's the main guy in a smaller team. And before it's said I was saying exactly the same at the end of last season, but thought again naively he might get himself into shape over the summer.

QUOTE (X-Offender @ Aug 7 2011, 10:06 AM) Montolivo for Cassano would be too good to be true. Umm, yeah for Fiorentina. (provided you mean a straight up swap) Cassano >>> Montolivo. Btw, doesn't Montolivo contract end next year? QUOTE (X-Offender @ Aug 7 2011, 11:06 AM) I think Cassano is a waste of time, especially since we're going to be using him as a sub. He'll never reach match fitness if he doesn't play in every game from the start. Debatable to say the very least.

Debatable to say the very least. There seems to be a lot of people here who, in my opinion, over rate Cassano and under rate Montolivo. Firstly, we got Cassano on a free so anything we get out of his sale/transfer is a good bonus. Second, to put it simply, there is a reason that Cassano has burned through so many teams during his career. His talent is undeniable but the risk that comes from his inconsistent attitude and fitness problems significantly lowers his market value. This is why the interest in him comes from small teams the can gamble on him because if it works he will improve the teams drastically. If he was a surer bet he'd have better teams calling. While I'm not fully convinced by Montolivo I think its pretty clear that he is a good player on a pretty bad team. He has qualities that we desperately need in our midfield. No player is a guarenteed success and all come with some risk but Montolivo has never had the opportunity to play with teammates that are of his quality (and better). I think having Ibra and Pato to feed instead of a secondrate striker like Gilardino can make all the difference. Despite what some of you think, a young solid Italian with some potential to improve is equal to, in terms of market value, a player in his prime with a fickle attitude and still hasn't managed to mature mentally. In regards to Cassano's fitness, I think it is ridiculous to give him a free pass on coming into this season out of shape. Anyone who has ever seriously trained for a sport can tell you that it is not that hard to drop weight and get to a proper weight to perform at a high level. It is most certainly realistic to expect that he manage it over a few months with the team. It just takes consistency and since he paid to perform at a high level I expect him to make the necessary steps to do so. His failure to do this is another mark of his immaturity.

QUOTE Sunday 7 August, 2011Gattuso: 'Milan need an Aquilani'(IMG: http://football-italia.net/pics300/gattusonews.jpg) Gennaro Gattuso warns Milan they need to bring in “Alberto Aquilani or Riccardo Montolivo, someone with quality.” The Rossoneri fought back to beat Inter 2-1 in the Italian Super Cup on Saturday, but their sluggish first half performance raised questions. “The way I see it, Milan need a new man in midfield,” Gattuso told the Gazzetta dello Sport. “We more or less all have the same characteristics in that area. We need a player who can get the team moving a bit more.” Following Andrea Pirlo’s move to Juventus, they have been linked primarily with Liverpool outcast Aquilani and Fiorentina’s want-away former captain Montolivo. “Perhaps Aquilani pushes up more, while we all know Montolivo, as he has been an Italian international for years. “Aquilani and Montolivo are both players of great quality.” Link: http://football-italia.net/aug7j.html

You're so right Rino, and hopefully either one of them will take your spot (IMG: style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
