Sheva for me. Even though stat-wise they're both the same, I think it's a personal thing.

I find that I have more 'Sheva stories' than 'Kaka stories' to tell my kids. Perhaps Kaka left a bit too early, while when Sheva left he was the biggest personality in Milan after Maldini.

For me losing Kaka was like losing a lynchpin of the squad, losing Sheva was like losing a piece of me. Grew up with this man, shares the laughs and cries...the joy of the 2003 penalty shootout.

Somehow...Sheva also carried more emotional attachement. Kaka was just too non-fuss and business-like. When Sheva left there was turmoil just like when he came, while Kaka left just like he came, in the nicest most friendly way possible. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Sheva was also purchased for 25 million. There's the odd joy when you splash out money to buy someone who is hyped to be the best in the world and he proves to be it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) He was our answer to Real Madrid's original Ronaldo who at that time unlike CR was inarguably the best, and boy did he deliver.

However objectively I think both players are important. Stats wise they're similar too. I think the hallmark of any player's legend in a club is how sorely they're missed when they're gone. And I think both Sheva and Kaka prove they are heroes that way.

It's also probably why the legend of Rui Costa will never endure in Milan, coz we just never missed him when he retired. (By God..we do now!!)

+1
you've said it all! i think the only edge kaka might have is that we bought him for way less than sheva and also sold him for way more..... oh then kaka made world player of the year while sheva only manage third..
they both were very important but the wonderful memories sheva left behind tips it

Shevchenko by a mile. Kaka wasn't even doing it for us when he left.

I stopped being a huge Ricky fan about the season after his goals at OT.

I only stopped being a Sheva fan when he did a stupid dirty on us and buggered off.

His departure hurt us way more - I don't think Kaka's has actually made much difference - I believe Carlo and Paulo's are why we're so bad.

Kaka's not even playing well for Madrid. I think we got a good price for a player on the decline.

Totally and excessively biased. And you have not watched a single RM game this season.

Until this momnent I found myself in agreement with most of your posts. but that's no longer! you're just being "totally and excessively biased" here (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) I don't want to get started on this issue, I just thank god most Milan fan recognize what Kaka did for Milan.

I'm one of them. I just think there are rose tinted specs to suggest Kaka was as good in the last 2 or 3 years of his time at the San Siro as he was during the first 3 or 4 years.

I don't take away what he gave us, but I'm a bit more realistic about his performances later on.

Thing is though, here's a puzzler - if I was being totally biased, why would I be favouring Shevchenko who I consider to have committed a worse crime than Kaka did?

Surely I would favour Kaka? Or neither?

I am when I dare suggest Kaka isn't perfect, that's for sure.

And for what it's worth, I agree with Danny's assessment and judgment -- Sheva over Kaka.
