I think Pato is great, and will be world class one day, but if we are offered 65m for him we should jump on that like a frog. We could buy 3 players on Pato's level with that kind of money

They covered the debt with the 60m from Kaka, so they would have no excuses not to bring in a ton of transfers to replenish the squad.

disagree with that, we can build a team around him and how can you progress as a team if you keep selling your best/better players?

There are millions of players out there that can have a team built around them not just Pato. I'm saying that if Pato is rated as an 85/100, and we got 65m for him, we could buy 3 other players also rated at an 85 and probably even have some change to get an 80 or 75 player. We could get the wingbacks we desperately need, a new CAM, a CB, Dzeko, Krasic, Hernanes, Ranocchia, Paloschi the possibilities are limitless. Don't get me wrong, I love Pato but I love AC Milan more, and with 65m in our pockets we could be a better team. Anyways, I hope he doesn't leave just yet cause I want to get a Pato jeresey for my birthday

exactly my thought.

Yes pato is amazing, but there are players out there who are or can be just as good.

If we could actually invest the 65-80 million in the market and buy decent players, i'd be very happy. The summer we bought Ronaldinho, we bought 11 players for 80 million. Ofcourse Silvio was investing us at that time.

We need to do what is best for our club to survive. With no real owner we are left on our own and yes we are going to have to sell players to survive; there is no other way. Arsenal have the correct mentality and we should be following a similar model. Invest in youth and in prime players who have potential but are not expensive instead of our current plan which is don't spend at all.

Silvano Martina is a market specialist who is quite close to the Dzeko family and has recently said this in the press.

QUOTE
"Dzeko is a true champion, not even Van Basten was this strong at 23. Last summer, Milan made an important offer for Dzeko and Even though it was rejected, Milan still has a very strong desire in signing the player.

The player is also a true Milan fan; he has a large collection of Milan jerseys and merchandise.

Huntelaar being exchanged for Dzeko? Its difficult to comment on this sort of deal because once a player has landed in a great club like Milan, its very difficult to ask them to leave."

Krasic has denied a transfer to England

"I want to leave CSKA Moscow to continue my career in Italy or Spain. I thank the Russian fans for the support that I have always shown, but for me it's time to change teams. When? It is easier to happen next summer."

- Adiyah Dominic, from Fredrikstad FK to AC Milan.

This is the statement released by the IFL. AC Milan has officially registered these two players and the transfers have been fully completed. Beckham will be available to Milan immediately while Adiyiah will be available after the African Cup of Nations tournament has been completed.

The Society of Via Turati, according to newspapers online, will have a transfer fund of 50 million euros available through market operations and sponsorship contracts.

Many players on the brink of departure, one above all: Huntelaar, who could be evaluated at about 15 million, In addition to Dutch, the renewal of co-ownership of Paloschi for one more year with Parma would bring in another 5 million euros. Jankulovski, Kaladze and Abbiati will also be leaving the club resulting in profit of 10-15 Million euros.

The change of sponsors that the Company will also help boost Milan's finances.

According sussidiario.net fact, Bwin will be replaced by another sponsor; it is very likely that it will be Fly Emirates, marking the airline's Arab, which will pay Milan 20 Million a season in comparison to Bwin's 12 Million.

Finally do not forget the compensation arising from the Champions League 2010-2011. A total of approximately 50 million euros that Galliani and Braida invest in the summer market to make sure that Dzeko, a defender and a winger will arrive.

Armin Veh (coach of Wolfsburg) Interview:

"Džeko yesterday had the flu, but we expect to come to the game tonight," said Veh. [ UPDATE: He scored 1 goal and had 1 assist against the morocca swallowz]

"Every team wants Dzeko but they will all have to wait until the World Cup has finished. He definitely will not leave before then. We know that Milan is the club of his dreams, but he will have to wait until the end of the season," said Veh.

I think we'll sign Dzeko in the summer for 25 mil euros, we'll see. Hopefully he won't be like Gilardino.

Indeed, thanks for posting. But a good number of the items had already been posted by other boardmembers and so some of what was posted is repetitive. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Other news of note:

* Storari's agent is quoted by tuttomercatoweb as saying he will only go on loan
* Some papers have linked West Ham's Diamanti to Milan; he's quoted by milannews as being flattered but only being interested in West Ham
* Zaccheroni was interviewed by milannews and says he doesn't think there'll be any other January purchases.

These list have been made before... People were creating World XI when they saw the Kaka money coming our way, but in the end look what we ended up with, a squad that has been weakened, no replacement for him and a panic buy to appease fans when they were too cheap to spring 20m for Fabiano after we recieved the sort of money we did for Kaka.

Selling Pato would be a mistake of massive proportions because we all know we'll end up with the short end of the stick as Silvio and Co don't want to spend money only cover losses. You can make those player lists that we can buy all you want but this isn't football manager. And with that ammount of moeny you would be lucky to buy 1 world class player with the sort of price tags that players have these days, let alone all the guys you're mentioning...

The Kaka sale should be a lesson to all, you can dream all you want about some spending spree as an outcome of a player sale, but that is never going to happen, not with the mantality the board has adapted for these past few years. Some were happy when Kaka were sold because they thought it would be another Zidane-Real-Juve story, where Juve went out and bought a new top class team after selling Zidane, but that is never going to happen, and if we sell Pato we would see the same thing happen. We'de end up losing Pato and bringing in another panic buy to appease the fans after they sold a great player, just like what happened with Sheva and Kak

QUOTE (Bluesummers @ Jan 5 2010, 06:34 AM) *

Arsenal have the correct mentality and we should be following a similar model. We've never spent that kind of money in a single transfer window blue! I don't know where you get your figures from but the summer we bought Dinho we didn't really splash the cash either, 20m for Dinho was the largest sum we spent and that only happened because he was Silvio's personal conquest so he swooped in and oinjected the money needed from his own pockets. But other then that we didn't go all out, far from it.

Oh and the Arsenal policy? You mean become a feader club to the rest of Europe's top teams? Because that is what Arsenal are and I have no desire to see Milan become anything like that. Sure teir policy to scout their own talent is great, but after their youngsters become top players they end up losing them, and that is what you're saying when you tell me that you want to sell Pato.

And again, I'm going to remind you of the let down of the summer, you were so convinced after Kaka was sold that we would being in around 7 top players, and aside from the freebies and Huntelaar I don't see were those 7 have disappeared to. Again, this is not Football Manager 2.0, any sum we could potentially get for Pato would not be spent on a spending spree, simple as, we've already been burned twice over with this, losing both Sheva and Kaka and ending up with nothing in return and the massive ammounts of money earned from those transfers dissappearing, as we've never seen that money going into good use and actually rebuilding this ageing team. And what's really even worse about selling Pato compared to Sheva and Kaka, its that Pato is still 20 years old, he hasn't even come close to his peak yet. Wishing that he was sold in the hopes that the team is rebuilt is stupid imo, as that is something our managment is not yet willing to do, maybe when Seedorf and Pirlo and rolling around in wheel chaires and are strapped to machines to keep their lungs pumping maybe they'll buy a decent player....

The Kaka sale was for debts. We knew that. Anyway, we're arguing over trifles...Pato won't be sold anytime soon. We don't need to sell anymore...and the Kaka sale is too fresh in the fan's minds for Silvio to try something as stupid!

(Fishdoll doesn't want to open the debate up again but does not think that kaka's sale was ONLY because of debts).

So...telelombardia has a nice piece about Milan's transfer market. link

They've noted that with Adiyiah's contract being deposited, there can't be any more non-EU transfers. They also note that, barring major shocks, the January market for Milan is closed - at least for guys coming in.

The article states that there might be some departures, however. The first name mentioned is Kaladze, who is supposedly not happy at feeling marginalized and underused. There are supposedly a lot of offers for him. If he goes, Milan might try to bring Astori back this window.

The other unhappy camper is Huntelaar - but telelombardia seems to think he might be stuck until the summer market, when a deal involving Dzeko can be arranged.
