I prefer to play with two forwards, but Pirlo is the problem. He is an attacking midfielder but occupies a defensive midfielder's position. And playing with ONLY one defensive midfielder would be a tactical suicide, especially when you have two natural winbacks as fullbacks in Zambrotta and Jankulovski. Inzaghi is better on his own than Pato. Pato needs a striker partner. He needs to play with someone, asking him to become a CF is a mistake, as he is a natural SS\ ST. Inzaghi is more than fine spending most of his time way up front not doing much and all of a sudden pounce on a chance and score. Pato is much more useful when he plays deep. He can dribble past many players on his own and either open the play and pass to a teammate or take a sudden long-range shot. I didn't like when he was asked to play as a CF. It took the entertainment out of his game and he was far less effective.

totally agreed excellent points

Ronaldinho and Pippo will start.. or Pato. It doesn't matter, just need the 3 points. Inter dropped points today, hopefully Juventus/Fiorentina does the same tomorrow.

I don't think it's tactical suicide to play with one defensive mid, thats how we used to play when Sheva was still here, even the xmas tree formation was played with one defensive mid, Pirlo and Seedorf 2 seasons ago. And we had Cafu and someties Sergio too as fullbacks. If you play a compact game and retain the ball well it doesn't matter how much defensive mids you have. Of course with the 2 central defenders we have we can't really risk things, but once Nesta is back I would like us to revert back to 2 strikers and just 1 defencive mid especially in these types of games were teams come to do nothing but defend and sneak a goal from a set piece

As for Pato, he actually played a really good game last season the only time that he was played as the lone striker in the xmas tree formation, the game against Genoa where he scored 2 goals. Sure it restricts him a bit, but I don't think he has any problems with adjusting to playing that role. And I think it's better to have a player like him that isn't afraid to drop deap in midfield and help out or carry the ball forward or hold it up until he has support something Pippo cannot do, when playing with Pippo most of the times it like playing with 10 men. Yes he will get a chance out of nothing and score it but in terms of overall play it is better to have a player like Pato then Pippo

Last season Ambro opened the scoring, Pippo opened the scoring the season before that against Lazio.

I may be able to see it all then. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Villa kicks off at 4pm, so it will be a close run thing!

I'm sure they'll beat us, unfortunately. But this summer we showed them up to the extent that even the media turned on them. Tapping up players, then not being able to afford them. And this is a "big, classy club" we're talking about.

13 and a half hours until Milan kick-off. I can't wait to see Sheva in the red and black again! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cry.gif)
