its obvious they dont give a **** about friendlies. But hopefully with the addition of 10 players there will be some competition and people who need to be benched wiill finally get the call

She's right. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Our 4-1 win against a depleted Juve doesn't mean anything. But a loss against a side I've first heard last week isn't anything to brush off easily. You may say it's just a friendly like the Juve one, but I'd rather win a friendly than lose it, thank you. If a team like Milan takes friendlies lightly, that's not a very good sign of things to come.

1-1 would have been nice. So would 0-0. 1-0 preferred, considering we had the great Abbiati in goal, Seedorf in mid, plus everyone's friendly neighborhood Kaladze patrolling the defense. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) You know what loosing a friendly against a low table team like this mean? It means that our bench is still not good enough for a club of our stature.

I didn't see the game, so can only go on match reports and suchlike. What worries me is the centerbacks -- neither of the current likely starters (Maldini and Kaladze) are match fit, Kaladze was...well, himself on at least one occasion. Hopefully the match fitness will be there by the time Sunday rolls around, or Bonera should start.

I'm given to understand that Zambrotta had a good game in both offense and defense, which is very good news indeed. Flamini too had a good game - he's going to be a good signing, I think. For those of you who saw the game, what was your impression of Pirlo? Good/bad/indifferent?

The attack situation is still uncertain - Kaka's hurt. There's a bunch of strikers but 2 are hurt (Pippo and Borriello), 2 are just coming back from the Olympics (Pato and Ronaldinho, who it seems will be present for opening day and then hop on a plane to Brazil for a World Cup qualifier), and one has yet to officially sign (Shevchenko). We've got Paloschi for now, but I expect him to go somewhere on loan this week.

The keeper situation isn't ideal but seems unlikely to change. I'm guessing Abbiati will be starter for now.

The elements to do well are there, I think. I remain hopeful.

What? The Juventus side we played against was far better on paper than the Gijon side. I think the players were probably distracted... and not only that we were missing a few players, including Inzaghi. Paloschi could have scored, but the kid is tired.

Don't put much into this meaningless friendly.

Our attack is top notch now... Borriello will be coming back soon enough...

I think our bench is good enough and I think this friendly does not reflect anything. I think nothing of it.

I think the attack situation is just fine. I think people are painting a negative picture over a friendly our team didn't even take seriously. Our team will take the season seriously. I mean heck Roma's friendly season is worse than ours... we don't want to risk anymore of our players to injury either... another reason not to take meaningless friendly games seriously.

*Yawn* friendly. Not interested. Gijon wouldn't want to lose in front of their fans, and last thing I want is for some over zealous Gijon player to go studs up into one of ours.

Paloschi should have scored, I think. I understand, the lad is tired, but he needs to find it in himself to pull himself up by the bootlaces. He's too young to take anything lightly.

Glad to hear about Cardaccio and Zambrotta. In fact I'm ecstatic.

Maybe Carletto did this on purpose, just to convince Galliani about a CB.

I think our players were ordered not to take this seriously... and just kick the ball around. Whether we win or not with regards to this friendly, is not important. I mean teams like Real Madrid and Barcelona have lost to teams lower ranked in the past...

I'd much rather have a 2-0 loss, than have a 1-0 win and have a player of ours injured... I wouldn't want to see Paloschi injured either as if he played any harder he would have been targeted more.

I'm glad to see solid performances out of several of our players. That shows we are ready to take the Serie A by storm.

Wouldn't have worked out. Gijon obviously want a few stars to be seen. Not a bunch of unknowns. I'm still lost as to why, this friendly was arranged. My brain is screaming about a deal related to Villa...but it just doesn't seem logical. A striker like him..here??

unless its in the clause otherwise he could have. What i dont understgand is why we even played gijon unless its for future benefits such as them becoming our feeder club, which then means.... we are going to be getting spanish players in the future (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)
