Tabarez On New Milan Signings
Former Milan coach Oscar Tabarez has given his verdict on the club’s new Uruguayan signings Mathias Cardaccio and Tabare Viudez.

The Rossoneri’s busy transfer activity this summer, which included the signing of Ronaldinho, has meant that the capture of two promising Uruguayan youngsters has almost passed unnoticed.

Not too much is known of Mathias Cardaccio, 20, and Tabare Viudez, 18, who arrived from Nacional and Defensor Sporting respectively, but they are players who are highly rated by current Uruguay national team coach Oscar Tabarez.

“Cardaccio is fast, very durable and strong in the air,” Tabarez told Tuttosport. “His best position is just in front of the defence.”

"Viudez is a great talent. He is an excellent signing for the future."

Tabarez also passed comment on Sampdoria’s new striker Bruno Fornaroli, who has been labelled by some as the 'Uruguayan Pippo Inzaghi'.

"He is a man of the area, an attacker who will score 15 goals in the championship,” predicted Tabarez.

“But do not compare him to Inzaghi. He is different. Fornaroli is not as fast, but he is a centre forward who is always a second ahead of his marker. His anticipation is his greatest asset."

The 60-year-old Tabarez had a disastrous 22-match spell at Milan in 1996, but he did better during two periods at Cagliari.
