ivanovic will not go for for 20, chelsea rarely ever make much profit off the sale of their players and he is surplus and are not in the ideal position to demand a lot.

and there hasn't been any sudden media coverage with ivanovic, juve/chelsea/utd have been after him for the past 2 years. my bet would be between 12-15m max (12m being a fair price from what i've seen)

the thing is clubs rarely finalize deals as fast as possible, negotiations can take a while (like in the case of ronaldinho) and it is nomrally to their advantage to hold off and allow other clubs to come into the mix and raise the bids.

yes very true but you assume that chelsea are willing to let him go in the first place which isn't true. And as you said they will do exactly that, hold off till negotiations hit and the price goes up. They bench sheva, i'm sure ivan won't say anything if hes benched.

Ivanovic may be lucky to even be benched. Chelsea have so many choices in defense. (They'll probably have 4 starting, with 2 on the bench): Ferreira, Belletti, Bosingwa, Terry, Carvalho, Alex, Ivanovic, A.Cole & Bridge. its too early to judge if ivan will be playing or not. We dont know how scolari works yet and whether or not he'd be even willing to sell or loan any of these players.
