QUOTE
"My hard work on the transfer market this summer has three fixed points. First, we are not giving away our most important players. Second, we need to reinforce the team. Third, we don't want to spend too much. In goal, Fiori will quit and Abbiati will come back, and is very welcome by the entire dressing room, to play with Milan. Palermo offered him more, but he wanted no one but Milan. Lloris? No one knew him before we became interested in him, but in the end we decided we didn't want to have four goalkeepers in the squad." -Mr. Galliani

hm.. in fact, what he did tell in the website will be the overview of our summer transfer campaign after all.. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

for the LLoris part, i thought they wanted to sell Dida for LLoris. So that we will always have '3 GK' in our squad. But, they didnt.. Another future star missed by our management since Ibra, Toni, Buffon, bla.. bla.. bla..

Yeah so he gave up a young promising keeper to have Dida, Abbiati and Kalac as next year's 3 keepers. Sounds like a full proof plan to me (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

And Abbiati wanted no one but Milan? (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) I still remember him talking sh!t about Milan while he was on loan at Juve, I can't imagine why we would want someone like him back, who isn't even a decent keeper anymore, if he was good then fine I could live with that, but he isn't even that

Dida is being paid way too much to do nothing, he must go or vastly improve his performances (not likely)

Exactly, I wonder how Galliani thinks it's a good move to keep a player who is getting paid a ridiculous ammount of money when he is of absolutely no use to the team anymre, because you can't even trust him anymore to play a match without making mistakes. It's pretty unethical imo. I don't know how he can stand there and keep speaking about the high pay roll when we have players like Dida who are only at the club to take their high wage and sit on the bench

And the person who offers these ridiculous pay deals is the same person who also pleads poverty (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

I can't really blame dodo though, as anyone else would do exactly the same.

Five pages on this topic in 48 hours? Holy God, and I never even posted anything. (Edit: Never mind; about half the posts in here are off-topic. Moving on.)

And we didn't "give up a young keeper," since we never truly had a realistic chance of getting him anyway.

Honestly...I think players have a clause in their wage contract, which means they earn different amounts depending on whether they're in the playing 18 or not.

But Dida came up to Galliani and said - 'Hey boss...I know I've been useless, but give me 3 months, and I'll be back to my best again!'. I'm sorry but if it was Vieri I'd not have listened. But this is Dida. And if he says stuff like this, we're kind obliged to say, ok have another go.

Besides the 5 million we saved, I'm sure went into Zambrotta.

Absolutely. Coz I've seen him play before. He was our number one before. He was our David James so to speak! You've seen David James right? (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Before and after Portsmouth that is!! (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Abbiati is a good keeper. A Class B keeper. Class A being Buffon, Cech, Casillas and Dida (all on top form).

And it's not like we're playing in CL...where one single chance might kick you out of the tourney.

We were behind Inter by 20+ points, not 4 or 5 points, which you can put down to goalkeeping errors. We have FAAAR bigger problems. And goalkeepers are as expensive as a good striker now.

The problem is...this situation is ideal to introduce a new keeper. Wether a young one (like the primaveras we have) or a new one. It's quite sure that neither Dida, Kalac nor Abbiati are our future. Maybe even not our present. Does solutions are all temporary. And I would be glad if we had let's say Chris and Nelson, plus another one who could step in and try out if needed.

It's not that playing Kalac will do us any good for the future. Even after his best (and that was last season) he did not suceed to convince truly. He should be shipped off IMO cause he is worth something but he isn't Milan class. Milan should make space for a keeper that will gain a bit experience for the future.

The only big mistake we made last season that we have failed to make experiments. Hell, we finished 5th, 20 points behind the Merda and still, we didn't mix much. That one goes on Carlo. We all realized that the season 2007/08 isn't one to remember and that we've lost that one - and that's why we couldn't possibly loose anything more by playing Ba, Å imić, try Serginho as SS, try some primaveras (not only Palo), you know what I mean? We should have mixed...
The only good thing in such desastrous "gap" seasons for big teams mostly is that it opens up space for new ideas and players who gain unexpected playing time and can prove themselves,..

That would have been great .. Problem is, Milan's primavera isn't exactly that of Barca or Ajax ... The youth team are rather weak, and it is only recently that they have been shown some attention (2 yrs ago) because of the UEFA regulation etc ..

Hence, Paloschi and Borriello are showing promise .. Tennie has been impressed with the young back line, I have not seen them at all (except for Marzoratti who played two games with the first team in Serie A 2 yrs ago) ... So I do think there is potential in the primavera, but it has only blossomed just recently. And even if Carlo was to try to mix and match, he has had Di Gennaro and co participate with the first team last season, and they might have not impressed to the level of Paloschi

marzo is amazing. We should look to requiring him in a year or two.

Yeah i watched him in the Toulon festival and Lino is good. Albertazzi is very highly rated but i havent seen him play in person. Bologna were just promoted so provided he stays another year with them i can make a better judgment. Darmian is also highly rated but apart from a few Coppa Italia and matches with fringe players i cant make too clear a judgement. Bruscigan(?) too is supposed to have potential but i have never seen him play
