Y'know, that does sound a bit like the dreaded vote of confidence. (thanks to R7 for the good translations of stuff).

i don't know if this recent vote of confidence should be "dreaded." i actually think it may be exactly what we need. Like Bonera and Sheva said recently, now more than ever i think we need team unity and harmony. Milan is only going to come out of this funk by relying on eachother, and i think what they need now is support, not more added pressure from the management and fans.
i think carlo has to stay on the bench until at least winter. If we fire him any earlier we could really ruin the first half of this season. With all this commotion about Carlo getting the sack..it's just hitting me that he ACTUALLY could be fired soon, and before we go and do that hastily, I really would rather let him see this first half season out. I genuinely do like Carlo on our bench. Out of all the managers in Europe i can only think of a handful that would suitably replace him...and these last 2 years he hasn't been given a team that could compete with the cream of the crop like he had up until 06.
This poor league performance has been going on since then (2 years ago), and it is only NOW that he has been given proper reinforcements. and in the meantime while we've had a somewhat weakened squad (thin attack, and aging Defense), we did win Europe and the CWC. I don't mean to list these trophies as reasons to be comfortable about our position right now..but it's only fair to Carlo and his stellar body of work he has done for us to keep him around for a little while, and REALLY prove he's lost it. Despite this great transfer window..which in hindsight i give 4.5 stars, we still lack a good defense and a good keeper. The reasons for Carlo's love affair with DM's is because i think he hasn't trusted our defense for a while now. If anything, he has shown a willingness to switch things up in these first 2 games..
right now i feel like giving him a tentative vote of confidence as well and let him fiddle around with the options, and i have this hunch that we'll be fine in 1-2 weeks. I guess would feel sad to see Carlo get the sack and move on to some other club..but if we can't find consistency by winter..then i'll be all for it.

QUOTE (vnata001 @ Sep 15 2008, 11:36 PM) This poor league performance has been going on since then (2 years ago), and it is only NOW that he has been given proper reinforcements. This brings about the same old debate again. We still have had enough quality players the last 2 seasons to really compete in the league, but we haven't. A great coach can handle only have 7 or 8 World class players to field, unfortunately Carlo needs about 13 to do anything in the league, which is why I don't see him as a great coach. If he stays until winter, we won't win the league. My prediction at the start of the season was 3rd, but keeping Carlo until christmas will not allow us to make my prediction in my opinion.

Pre-2008: Kaka Nesta Pirlo Rino Inzaghi Seedorf (The last two are guest appearances) Post-2008 Kaka Pirlo Rino Ronaldinho Flamini Zambrotta Nesta Seedorf Pato Sheva If anything all these transfers seem to have overcomplicated matters. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) But we'll see. I mean in some fairness, Carlo never has had the entire first team at his disposal in the friendlies. I'm with vnata. It'll take 2-3 weeks. I think any team needs at least 5 games to gel. The friendlies never had any of the current members except Flamini and Zambrotta.

But in his time here he's had Dida, Maldini, Stam, Nesta Cafu, Pirlo, Seedorf, Gatusso, Rui Costa, Shevchenko, Inzaghi, Kaka'.. and he had them while they were still World class players, yet he's barely done anything with them. Like I've said before, great coaches don't need World class players to succeed (See: Jose at Porto), so I stand by the opinion that it was the players winning the trophies more than Ancelotti erally doing anything.

He did have some very good players. It's just that they weren't accepted as world class then. Like Kaka till the CL season. Deco, Carvalho, Costinha etc. And I was speaking about the past two seasons of the Carlo era which were the ones where we really have done badly. And I'll have to disagree with barely having done anything with them. Of the world class names you've mentioned, only Rui, Nesta and Sheva were accepted big names. Forget Maldini, he's part of the scenery at Milan. Dida was originally a number 2 who made it big.Stam, Cafu were considered on the decline. And Rino was at Celtic. I don't want to turn this into a Jose vs Carlo match. We've had enough of that over the past season. I just think when Carlo says he hasn't had the opportunity to have his first team gel together in this case, it is a justified excuse ( for now). I don't think it takes more than 5-7 matches to hit on a decent combination despite our shambolic defence.

I don't think it takes more than 5-7 matches to hit on a decent combination despite our shambolic defence. He did have some decent players, but not many. The team that played the CL Final: Baia, Paolo Ferreira, Jorge Costa, Carvalho, Valente, Pedro Mendes, Costinha, Maniche, Deco, Derlei, Corlos Alberto. With Benni McCarthy and Bosingwa on the bench. World class at this time? Carvalho and Deco were the only two in my opinion. Ferreira, Valente, Mendes, Maniche and McCarthy have all played in the EPL, and I can't say any of them can be described as more than 'above average'. Costinha is okay, but no better than somebody like Tiago who is hardly World class. Baia is a decent keeper, Bosingwa is good now, but then? To say he had alot of World class players is a bit unfair. But still, my point is that Jose did win things with these players. Carlo won very little. But you can look at others, it's not just Jose. SAF has done a great job with some very average players at times, because he's great, as has Capello. Carlo just isn't in their league, or even close. It's not a case of whatever the media thinks of these players.. you can say these players weren't that good or were on the decline or whatever, but they weren't really. It seems people decide how good these players are based on the arguement they're using. If we're arguing about how good the Milan team was in 03, people will say they're all great, yet when we're saying Carlo did little with them, suddenly they're all not so great.. Carlo seems to be given new excuses all the time. Early in 06/07 it was the effects of losing Sheva and calciopoli, late in 06/07 we were doing well in the CL so we were resting players in Serie A. Early 07/08 all the teams we come up against at home were playing amazing because it was a 'cup final' for them, then we had too many injuries, then this season our players need time to gel.. the fact he's been defended so much shows he's not good enough in my opinion. Look at the players that've been defended alot in arguements, or been the focal point of them, lately. Dida, Gila, Paolo, Carlo.. it seems they're a focal point of arguements for a reason, that being they're not longer good enough.

QUOTE Mourinho: Who is Lo Monaco?Monday 15 September, 2008Inter's Jose Mourinho has mocked Catania sporting director Pietro Lo Monaco as a war of words between the two clubs starts to gain momentum. The Italian champions had to fight hard to beat Catania 2-1 last Saturday after they had been reduced to 10 men by the controversial dismissal of Sulley Muntari. But Mourinho angered Catania director Lo Monaco by claiming that it “should have been 5-1 to Inter” and that he could have played in goal for the Nerazzurri without conceding. Lo Monaco blasted the Portuguese tactician for a lack of respect, but Mourinho has struck back by satirising the Etnei man's name - Monaco means 'monk' and is also the Italian name for Munich. “Who is Lo Monaco?” he said. “I know of the Tibetan monk, the Principality of Monaco, Bayern Munich and the Monaco Grand Prix, but that's all. “If this Lo Monaco wants to make a name for himself by talking about me then he should pay me. “I already have sponsors who pay me for publicity and I'm not paid to make a name for Lo Monaco. I guess that those who want to be on the front page know how to get there,” he sniped. channel4 The Arrogant One has hit again... honestly I prefer losing than having this guy in my team! He's disgusting... too bad a coach that good is such a pr**k! (IMG: style_emoticons/default/puke.gif)

Man, I still don't get all of the Jose hate.
Jose stated something I 100% agree with - Inter should have won by more than 2-1, but Bizzari did a great job in goal to deny them. So Lo Monaco, without any need to do so, comes out and criticises Jose.. what the hell does he expect Jose to do, accept the unwarranted criticism? No way! Jose owned him, and rightfully so.

^^ (IMG: style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I know. dst just said, he'd prefer to be coached by a second best coach cum good man, rather than the best coach who is a cvnto. @kurt: You said it yourself, the Catania goalkeeper was good. So you've seen the EPL, you've seen many games which Chelsea has grinded out 1 Nils under Mourinho, with Cech pulling off many wonder saves to keep that lead up. Has Mourinho ever come out and said, 'We deserved to lose 3-1 since Cech pulled off 3 wonder saves!'? Last I checked the goalkeeper is among the 11 players who take the field, and one of those who needs to be beaten to score. He's not an inanimate object of fate, like the offside rule.

Muntari got a 3 game suspension for his red card. ( link to lega calcio's weekly disciplinary report). For those keeping track, that means he's still suspended for the derby.
