QUOTE (kurtsimonw @ Aug 2 2008, 07:06 PM) *
The Gareth Barry situation is just on-going, and quite frankly it's getting boring now. Liverpool missed the agreed deadline for Barry, but now Barry's agent - thinking Liverpool would have come up with the money by that deadline - has said that the deadline means nothing and Liverpool can still by him, so he's just made himself look like an ***. Barry's ehad is all over the place at the moment, Liverpool and his agent are doing a really good job ******* this club about.

Liverpool don't need Barry as long as Alonso stays and IMHO a in-form is twice what Barry is though I don't see that Alonso for 2 years now.

Results:

Rangers 0-4 Liverpool
Man Utd 1-0 Espanyol

And at the Emirates Cup: Arsenal 0-1 Juventus | Real Madrid 2-1 Hamburg

That's the thing, if Alonso stays - which looks likely since no-one wants him - then they don't need Barry. So why not drop their interest in him? Because they're classless, they'd rather unsettle another team.

(Maybe they confused Gareth Barry with a set of hubcaps?)

I've seen his car, I'm sure that wouldn't be enough of a persuasian. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I'm beginning to not care, they deliberately unsettled Barry - and in turn AVFC - by making a bid before our crucial final home game, and have repeatedly insulted both the club abd Barry with their ridiculously low bids. If he goes, then RIP the career of Gareth Barry. If he stays, good.

Arsenal vs Madrid up next.

Current standings
Hamburg - 7
Madrid - 5
Juventus - 4
Arsenal - 0

(You get a point for every goal you score, as well as 3 points for winning and a point for a draw)

For Arsenal to win the tournement they need to..
-Win, score at least 4 goals, win by at least 2

For Madrid to win the tournement they need to..
-Drawn AND score at least 1 goal.
OR
-Win
OR
Lose, but score 2 goals, while conceeding less than 4.

So I think Madrid have it pretty much win, and Arsenal have almost no chance.

Arsenal 1-0 R.Madrid

Of course it was that clinical-penalty as usual in the Emirates. Otherwise they wouldn't score.
Anyway, that Madrid defence without the usual back-5 (with Casillas) make me laugh bar Heinze.

Great penalty from Adebayor that was.
Now I hope we score at least one more.

I guess you're right...I don't think anybody would have guessed Hamburg to win it though.

Arsenal did a good job, specially that 'footballer' Diaby who put Sneijder 6 months out.

These things happen, Diaby went for the ball, Sneijder was unlucky.
I don't remember you reacting to the Eduardo episode at all, so I must admit I'm a bit surprised you cared about Sneijder, who isn't even Portuguese...

Of course he went for the ball.
Eduardo? I wasn't watching it live. In this case I was. And unlike Eduardo, Sneijder is a world-class player who I like to watch.

What's the betting that when Wenger was asked about that foul after the game, that he said "I didn't see it". (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)
