QUOTE (Portikins @ Sep 24 2008, 09:59 PM) *
Nobody really cares about Carling Cup.

Between about 1999 and 2003 it was crap. But ever since the emergance if the 'big 4' when Roman took over Chelsea, there wasn't really enough trophies to go around, that's why the big 4 - except maybe Arsenal - take the cup very seriously. The only final in recent memory I can remember that didn't involve a top team was Bolton-Boro, and that's because Boro knocked out Arsenal and United, Villa knocked out Chelsea, so this is a good cup now. Obviously when teams go out they use the excuse that they don't care. But if it's so crap and easy to win, why can't they win it.

QUOTE (Rossoneri7 @ Sep 24 2008, 10:02 PM) *
Same here (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

How are Villa looking in the league ? There are whispers that Villa might be challenging further up the table this season ..

We're 4th at the moment. You know when every team in the league respects you as a good side when Liverpool turn up to Villa Park and stick 10 men behind the ball in hope for a draw, I don't think there's any chance we'll finish top 4 really though, just can't see us keeping this form up.

One thing we have in our favour is one of the best strike partnerships in World football. Yes, that's right.. WORLD football. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) This season we've played 5 games, Gabby/Carew have 7 goals, in the last 12 league games, they have 15 goals between them, if they can keep it up we may be taken seriously. I'm still amazed that Gabby is top scorer in the league, he's been very poor this season. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)

QUOTE (Locke Lamora @ Sep 25 2008, 10:30 AM) *
What have they ever done?

A year or so ago there was an agent who got into big trouble for illegal transfers, I think it was around 57% of those legal transfer that involved Portsmouth, there were then investigations last week into their ownership. They're not a very nice club.

As for Newcastle-Spurs, how bad are Newcastle? They lost at home to bottom of the league, that really isn't good. It's the first time since Gareth Bale has moved to Spurs (Some 16 months ago) that he has been on the winning side! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)

Newcastle are up really bad now. But 2-1 is not horrible against Tottenham you know. I think considering the differing standards of the manager. And obviously 66 million worth of transfers and no 'internal' issues, Spurs should have done better. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) If anything it's Spurs who are underperforming.

The strike is on, because of MA's trying to nail a profit on the club. Also because he is really dragging his feet over the new manager issue. We hear he's talking to Terry Venables. The Nigerian takeover seems most likely now, since they're the only group making any noise. I hate consortiums. One member/family/corporation to take over, would mean stability.

Can somebody explain to me how Routledge has got that high off the ground with seemingly no effort. He's about 12 foot in the air! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

I knew it. All of the Aston Villa players are on performance enhancing drugs.

By the way, Agbonlahor is in the news for getting 3 women pregnant, all at the same time. Great going... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Yeah, that was a while ago. 2 had abortions, one went and had the kid and is living in one of his homes. As long as he keeps scoring on the field, that's what matters! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Everton: Howard, Hibbert, Yobo, Jagielka, Lescott, Arteta, Neville, Fellaini, Osman, Cahill, Yakubu.
Subs: Nash, Baines, Castillo, Saha, Vaughan, Nuno Valente, Rodwell.

Victim FC: Reina, Arbeloa, Carragher, Skrtel, Dossena, Kuyt, Alonso, Gerrard, Riera, Torres, Keane.
Subs: Cavalieri, Hyypia, Agger, Aurelio, Pennant, Babel, Leiva Lucas.

Referee: Mike Riley (Yorkshire).

After being rejected by just about every manager available, Newcastle have bought in 60 old, former Wimbledon manager, Joe Kinnear. Newcastle fans wanted a World class manager who is also a Newcastle legend, such a manager didn't exist. They'll find it very difficult to get somebody to take charge of that job permanently.

Torres, 1-0. Been a really terrible game so far, nothing happened until the goal.

EDIT: 2-0 Torres.

He's scored 2, but he's been shite. Can't see him having another season like last.

I'm a fan of Torres. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) But his overall performance has been pretty bad. But he's scoring goals, and that's all that matters.

Oh dear, Rory Delap is injured for Stoke, there goes their whole game plan. Chelsea are going to own them.

Poor Victim FC, nothing ever goes there way, they even have to play against 10 men now, how will they cope!? (Tim Cahill sent off).

Robbie Keane substituted to the chant of "What a waste of money" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Perhaps worst signing of the season so far.

4th for me. Bentley 3rd worst. Very close between Corluka and Modric for worst signing in the EPL, they've been so poor it's becoming funny.

Yup.

But still... being shite... was the MOTM.
I think he's not in great shape.

United 2-0.

Ronaldo = 1 assist + 1 goal. Utd wins. Normal service resumed.

Great game from Villa, well, it wasn't. But good teams can win by playing poor and that's exactly what we did. 13 points from 6 games, top 4, not a bad start for us.
