QUOTE (Zed.D @ Jul 12 2010, 06:52 PM) It was Fabregas and Ramos who stopped Elia, Puyol wasn't involved. I don't think that was a foul anyway. EDIT: I take it back, just saw it again, it was a foul. Yeah..sorry..It was Ramos. It's just that I hate Puyol so much, his name is the first to pop up in my head. Personally I think the only time the Dutch got really lucky was with the De Jong offence. Easy Red!! For the rest I think Spain really set out to make victims out of themselves. I used to like Iniesta, but he's looking to be as much a diving **** as the rest of those Barca b!tches. And Robben...chose to not-dive at the wrong moment. He should have fallen with the contact..got Puyol sent off...and it was perfect. As for Van Bommel....I think the fact that he hasn't been carded all tournament influenced quite a few people to be rather suspicious of him. Which meant the Spaniards went down at every opportunity they got if he was in the vicinity. At least Brazil didn't make crybabies out of themselves. And I really didn't think Spain dominated the match. I'm fed up of people seeing the possession and assuming they were superior. I thought they were on the ropes quite a bit during the match. But then I like the Oranje...so feel free to ignore me.

Just those two. Van Bommel and De Jong. They've been doing it all tournament. They're not really capable of playing a pressing game too well are Netherlands. Few teams in the world are. Kudos to Uruguay for that.
That being said, I do think two Iniesta dives settled the match. I think penalties would have been the way to go.

If Robben, RvP and Sneijder had been 60% the divers they were against Brazil..Spain would have been down to 9 and it would have been an Orange World Cup.

QUOTE (Zed.D @ Jul 12 2010, 09:58 AM) Wasn't Muller a surprise to you? a star was born, come on! After getting into a Champions League final and playing whole season long extraodrinary? Why should I be surprised. Maybe someone who slept all season long, but we all knew Müller was very good. But yes, Germany. Apart from them - nobody. QUOTE And what was so much more special and extraordinary about 2006WC apart from Italy winning it? 1. Italy 2. The new Germany with Klinsi and Jogi 3. teams like Mexico, Ghana (also in 2010), Switzerland and Portugal; alone the semi finals were more exciting, not to speak of the group phase. 4. My country playing 5. Italy again!!!!!!!!!!!! (IMG: style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) QUOTE If Robben, RvP and Sneijder had been 60% the divers they were against Brazil..Spain would have been down to 9 and it would have been an Orange World Cup. True. I'm so sorry for Robben. Sneijder won almost everything and he's a merda player, so I don't really care, but Robben could have done the same, but instead lost both finals in the season of his career so far. IMO Spain is one of the weakest world champions in football history (recent). They have presumably a strong defensive part, but again - every single match they let their oppentents get into two or three 100% chances, and were really lucky that none of the attackers used that kind of definding against them. Just Robben alone had 2 must-scorers. Another problem for Holland yesterday is, they lacked of a normal striker all Huntelaar. He'd coped fine, while Elia and van der Vaart did nothing.

Maybe someone who slept all season long, but we all knew Müller was very good. But yes, Germany. Apart from them - nobody. I'd seen Muller with Bayern in the CL, he never impressed me - he even played poorly in the CL final. are you telling me you were fully expecting him to explode like this?! because you sound like you do. Spain are many others'. to them Spain winning it is special and extraordinary. As for 2, I think this Germany was an even bigger revelation than that Germany. As for 3, I don't understand... in this tournament there was teams like Uruguay, Ghana, Chile, etc. As for 4, well, it's a personal thing. I don't think any of these really mean the 2006WC was more extraordinary and special. if you had said the quality of grass was better in Germany, I would've agreed with you! But I can tell you, this time there were two teams in the final that had never won the world cup before, and that was something special because there always was a world cup winner in the final as far back as you can think.

But I can tell you, this time there were two teams in the final that had never won the world cup before, and that was something special because there always was a world cup winner in the final as far back as you can think. Well - the thing is, Germany had a lousy run; 2002 they reached the final but only because of Kahn and the referee disaster - 2004 was a transitional year. It was 2006 when the new generation was born, when they became fully confident and prepared. In 2010 I've expected Germany to do better then 4 years because they only upgraded their team and gained experience. So to me - 2006 presented the "new" Germany, while 2010 just proved to me what I already knew. I think in 2006 the smaller teams played better. Only team that really impressed was Uruguay. Chile did nothing, except winning a weak Honduras side and Switzerland. I have a feeling 2006 had more stars, more players shined. Plus - Zidane, one of the greatest players played his last tournament. I felt more passion, the matches had more excitment and well - I must say - no vuvuzelas and German stadiums. So all that made it feel much better. QUOTE (Zed.D @ Jul 12 2010, 08:49 PM) I'd seen Muller with Bayern in the CL, he never impressed me - he even played poorly in the CL final. are you telling me you were fully expecting him to explode like this?! because you sound like you do. I was watching him all season long and he was very good. Sure, I never expected him to score 5 and get an award, but my expectations were also not modest about him either. QUOTE I am very surprised at your (imo overly) harsh assessment of Spain, Fillipo -- especially when it's coupled with sympathy for the Netherlands after that final. Naaah, I usually like Holland but they disappointed me very much. IMO they played even worse football then Spain. But what should I say? Rember the Robben chance? That wasn't a blackout, Spain actually made such errors in every match (except...Honduras). Even further, they scored pathetic 8 goals in 7 matches (it's a miracle and blessing Spain played against offensively week teams like Switzerland, Honduras, Paraguay and Portugal; Chile and Holland are exceptions) from which 2 should have been disallowed. So...I don't know, Spain in 2008 looked much much stronger. In 2008 they were a blanaced team with every footballing element covered to the finest detail.
