15 cities are being visited for England 2018/2022 World Cup bids. How many different stadia are usually used for a World Cup? I know 8 were used for Euro96, so I'd have thought there would be more.

1. Birmingham
2. Bristol
3. Derby
4. Hull
5. Leeds
6. Leicester
7. Liverpool
8. London
9. Manchester
10. Milton Keynes
11. Newcastle and Gateshead
12. Nottingham
13. Portsmouth
14. Sheffield
15. Sunderland

If there's 10, it'll surely have to go..

Birmingham: Villa Park
Liverpool: Anfield
London: Emirites Stadium, White Hart Lane, Upton Park & Wembley
Manchester: Old Trafford & COMS
Newcastle: St. James'
Sunderland: Stadium of Light

Goodison Park, Elland Road, the Riverside and Stamford Bridge would be the next ones to be considered I'd have thought. But if there's 2 stadia per group, then we'd need another 2 after that.. it'd be weird seeing Bristol or Sheffield used at a World Cup. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

What City? Man City? That's what 'COMS' in the Manchester section is.

Germany squad for the must-win game against Azerbaijan:

QUOTE
Tor: Robert Enke (Hannover 96), Tim Wiese (Werder Bremen)

Abwehr: Arne Friedrich (Hertha BSC Berlin), Philipp Lahm (FC Bayern München), Per Mertesacker (Werder Bremen), Marcel Schäfer (VfL Wolfsburg), Serdar Tasci (VfB stuttgart), Heiko Westermann (FC Schalke 04)

Mittelfeld:Michael Ballack (FC Chelsea), Christian Gentner (VfL Wolfsburg), Thomas Hitzlsperger (VfB Stuttgart), Marcell Jansen (Hamburger SV), Sami Khedira (VfB Stuttgart), Mesut Özil (Werder Bremen), Bastian Schweinsteiger (FC Bayern München), Piotr Trochowski Hamburger SV)

Angriff:Cacau (VfB Stuttgart), Mario Gomez , Miroslav Klose (beide FC Bayern München), Lukas Podolski (FC Köln)

First call up for Stuttgarts Sami Khedira (and a well deserved one). Still no Torsten Frings, no Adler in goal and no Neuer either.

True.
Decided to pin this one since the qualification is going to be an important part of the upcoming season.

England play Holland next week. Stupid, what's the point of a friendly 3 days before the new season starts? If a Villa player gets injured I'll be really annoyed.

Goalkeepers: Ben Foster (Manchester United), Robert Green (West Ham United), Paul Robinson (Blackburn Rovers)

Defenders: Wayne Bridge (Manchester City), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United), Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Joleon Lescott (Everton), John Terry (Chelsea), Matthew Upson (West Ham United)

Midfielders: Gareth Barry (Manchester City), David Beckham (LA Galaxy), Michael Carrick (Manchester United), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), James Milner (Aston Villa), Theo Walcott (Arsenal), Shaun Wright-Phillips (Manchester City), Ashley Young (Aston Villa)

Forwards: Carlton Cole (West Ham United), Jermain Defoe(Tottenham Hotspur), Emile Heskey (Aston Villa), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United)

Looks like Fabio isn't keeping tradition and wasting friendlies. Good to see players like Beckham, Gerrard, Lampard and Rooney called up as they are unknowns who have really impressed in recent years. Let's see how they handle Internationals. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Not sure it's been noted but Lippi called up both Criscito and Marchisio for Italy's upcoming friendly. He did NOT call up Rino, but Zambrotta and Pirlo did get called up.

Steven Gerrard has pulled out of a meaningless friendly. That's surprising.
