The Milan administration has been notified of this inviting opportunity as they seek to bolster their attacking power given the very negative start they have made to their Serie A campaign. All of their strikers are yet to score a domestic goal after six games as they dropped points yet again this weekend against Catania at the San Siro.

Gilardino has been a shadow of his former self for Milan. Those who remember his exploits with Parma after Adriano’s departure from the Gialloblu will note the evident discrepancy in performance. Inzaghi, on the other hand, seems to give his best solely on the European stage, whilst Ronaldo is too often on the sidelines for the club to be counting on his goals alone.

Drogba would seem the perfect answer for the Rossoneri who would also play on the fact that the Ivory Coast international was very close to ex-Chelsea manager Mourinho. The Chelsea player, who also holds a French passport making him an EU citizen, was shocked at the departure of the Portuguese “Special One” .

He was quoted as saying last week, “I find Jose's 'eviction' hard to take. I could not see the blow coming so brutally.”

Then continued, “It changes an awful lot of things. At the moment, I am in the sort of nervous state I've never dreamed about before.”

Testament to this irritated state of mind is the red card he was shown last Saturday in Chelsea’s stalemate with Birmingham at Stamford Bridge after referee Atkinson booked him for a second time in the 74th minute of play.

Initial reports coming out of the Chelsea camp had described Drogba as being ‘in tears’ on hearing the news about Mourinho’s departure from the club.

With regards to the man who had lead Chelsea to two back-to-back Premiership titles in his first two seasons at the club Drogba said, “Many of us used to play first and foremost for the manager. It felt strange to return to our training centre at Cobham and no longer see Mourinho. That was when the shock hit home. There was a real family spirit in the camp. We could say anything to one another. That was our strength.”

The player would cost Milan around €18 million. Not a cheap price but many feel that it is time for the club to shell out some serious money on a much needed striker that would give their offensive aspect a whole new dimension.

I don't know ... These are rumors, so don't go off losing ur heads guys .. Cuz we all know we have Ronaldo and Pato, although Drogba is a great player (maybe sell Gila and get him), Milan wont have more than 4 strikers at a time.

The other striker rumor in this morning's press (the Drogba story is there too) is a straight swap between Milan and Lazio: Gila for Rocchi, possibly even with Milan paying a part of Gila's wages.

Fantasy aspect of the stories aside, I can't say as I'd mind either Rocchi or Drogba in Milan. Don't know how realistic it is though, and if they came in January they'd both be cup tied.

What's the problem with Gilardino diving all of a sudden... if you have moral issues against that you should complain whenever Inzaghi plays too, he is the biggest diver ever!

Oh , same goes out for Inzaghi. Both are falling like raindrops the second someone touches them. Is that why teams have strikers ? NO , strikers should score goals and not crashing down every second. We at the milanclub actually make fun of it , every time a pass is going towards gila or inzaghi and they have a defender behind them we count down untill they fall ... 5 ... 4 ... 3 ... 2 ... 1 ... touchdown !! So why having another one like that ? Im not talking about real fouls on a player. Im talking about those irritating divers who should pay more attention on playing the game and actually tapping in an easy goal instead of how to create a free kick.

I would like to try Gila and Drogba together, I think Drogba would suit Gila's game perfectly. Gila is just a box striker and will never do the sorts of things Sheva did, but when on form he is a lethal box striker as shown when he played for Parma. With Drogba taking up defenders Gila would be able to get back doing what he does best - scoring. The trouble with Pippo is he's too similar to Gila and that's why they don't work together.
