I get what you're saying, and it is hypocritical. But isn't it the same on here? People say Italian football is all tactical, etc, yet when Rangers, United, Liverpool or whever plays like it, they call it anti-football. Is that not been a hypocrit also?

Got this from a goal.com article, link is further below but his paragraph made me smile

First of all I still fail to understand just why the English media offers such support to Scottish teams, when it is clear that most of the Scottish nation would rather cease to exist than see English squads succeed. Take tennis player Andy Murray’s comment that he would be supporting “anyone but England” at the 2006 World Cup as an example.

I'll say again, I can't recall seeing either Milan, Roma, Fio or even merda play as defensively as Manu or Rangers. Actually when we won the CL in '03 we did play defensively for the last 30mins and were crucified for it by the press/english fans etc - butManu are heroes for doing exactly the same thing!

Milan @ Arsenal this season was very defensive, they owned us in terms of posessions, attempts on goal, corners, everything.

I personally never hear about English people calling Italian football defensive and boring, all I ever hear it from is Italians or fans of Italian teams.

As for the Scotland/England issue.. When it comes to football, I don't mind either Celtic or Rangers. (Rangers do sing God Save The Queen at games afterall!) But if I had the choice of a none-English team winning the CL or Scotland ceasing to exist.. then English teams might as well not play in the CL!

arsenal were by far the better team and deservedly went on to the next round. I watched both games and i can't recall us playing ten behind the ball, perhaps if we had we would have qualified instead ala Manu and rangers.

As for you've never heard English people calling the Serie A boring and defensive you can't know that many people then! Even the press claim the Serie A is boring and defensive, yet praise British teams for playing that way (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

And as for the Scotland/England issue...I can't stand the jocks so its Forza Zenit St Petersburg all the way (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

Italian teams from the 50's played that way. Do Roma play boring football? Do Juve? Do we? Inter do, but thats only because they have no creative midfielders, even then they play pragmatic football not an all out defence

Only lower level relegation level teams play that way, even then Catania, have played mersmerisng football at certain points this season

Yes they do (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

So the final is tonight... I had no idea, I just found out. Perfect, I'm really thirsty for some football! The again... Rangers will kill football once again tonight... how I wish they lost by a big margin!

Manchester is full of bloody Rangers fans here. I thought about doing something to avenge Fiorentina but decided against it mainly due to the ratio of 16:1 Rangers:Me (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

You could always wear green & white hoops, whoarethepatriots. Then again, it'd prolly be worse if you did that. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I hope you enjoy the game!

Not really, kurt. As a neutral, I would've liked to see more attacking play from Rangers, possession dominated by Zenit but I have to say Rangers defence is hard to break-down.
