QUOTE
Schuster Defiant Over Walkout

Bernd Schuster has said that he was right to walk out on reporters at the weekend because he believes that he is too important to be shown such disrespect.

The Real Madrid coach was angered when journalists repeatedly asked for his thoughts on referee during Los Merengues' win against Recreativo in Huelva.

After opting to end the press conference by suddenly leaving, Schuster caused a stir which led the Huelva Sports Journalists' Association to lodge a complaint with Madrid.

Despite that, Schuster has said that he would do the game again and sporting director Predrag Mijatovic has lent the German his support.

"I do not repent anything at all. I am pleased with what I did because because the people who asked me things deserved it," Schuster said.

"I had to leave because if nobody wants to talk about football then it is better if I go rather than waste my time.

"I still think that the three gentleman did not deserve for me to stay there because they were only interested in the referee.

"If it happens again, I will react in the same way because I think that there are times when no enough respect is shown.

"People forget that they were speaking to the coach of Real Madrid.

"It does not bother me what they call me, but I am important, very important, and at times they forget their manners.

"I am not someone who can accept that and I preferred to leave."

Mijatovic agreed that Schuster should not have had to talk about the refereeing during the match after making it clear that he was not keen on discussing the subject

"When reporters asked him three times and Schuster said he did not want to talk about referees, the fourth time he was right to leave because you have to suppose that there are no more questions," the sporting director said.

"We understand that people ask what they want, but if they see that the coach does not want to talk about it, you have to respect that. It is logical that in the end he was tired and so left."

I read the first line, and didn't bother reading the rest.

"I'm too important to be disrespected" was enough for me. Of the 2 realistic contenders, I do want Madrid to win the league, but that's a stupid thing to say. Nobody is too important for anything.

Robben Out For A Month

Arjen Robben will face another four weeks on the sidelines, as an MRI scan he underwent today revealed a severe left ankle sprain.

It could have been worse for the Real Madrid star after that horrific Quique Álvarez challenge against Recreativo, last Saturday. The Dutch international winger has a crack in the outside link of his left ankle, with which he was diagnosed only today because of a heavy contusion.

Besides Wednesday’s crucial home game against Roma, the 24-year-old will also miss the Primera División matches against Espanyol, Deportivo de La Coruña, Valencia and Sevilla. He may just be ready in time for the European Champions League quarter-finals first leg, on April 1 or 2, should of course the Spanish giants progress in the competition tomorrow.

This is the latest in a series of injury set-backs for the former Groningen, PSV Eindhoven and Chelsea man since joining Real for a reported 36.55 million euros on August 22 last year. In fact, he has only appeared in 19 of their games since, scoring two goals

Surprise surprise (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) Chelsea did good when cashed on him.

RVN won't be playing against Roma (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)
