Emerson close to Milan

Thursday 24 May, 2007 ::: channel4.com

Real Madrid midfielder Emerson is being linked with a move to Milan after reportedly reaching an agreement with the European champions.

The Brazilian left Juventus last summer after the club’s demotion to Serie B, but hasn’t enjoyed his new life in La Liga and is allegedly ready to head back to the peninsula.

According to Spanish newspaper Sport, Milan have already finalised a deal with El Puma, who would join the San Siro outfit in the summer.

The player had already been paired with Milan in the past few months after Rossoneri Coach Carlo Ancelotti made it clear that he would be more than happy to have the 32-year-old at his disposal.

The former Roma star has been heckled by fans at the Santiago Bernabeu and reportedly informed Los Blancos of his desire to leave two months ago, after speaking to chief Ramon Calderon.

Emerson’s market value has seemingly dropped since his move to the Merengues, but the Rossoneri are allegedly ready to invest £7m plus striker Ricardo Oliveira, who currently earns £4.2m a season.

Milan will earn approximately £48m thanks to their win in the Champions League Final against Liverpool and have decided to invest the money in the transfer market.

The club’s wish list is also reported to include Andriy Shevchenko of Chelsea as well as Barcelona duo Samuel Eto’o and Gianluca Zambrotta, although all three have denied they will be changing clubs this summer.

That price is way to high. I would have though £5m-£7m, not something worth the region of £20m.

I did open an Emerson thread a month or so ago. Maybe I should be on the Milan board, since I think like 'em. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

I hope Capello wins the League and stays in Real. That means Emerson stays in Madrid.

But I doubt. Even if they win the league (Capello staying...).

well it depends, even if we dint win the CL we had lots of money ready to be spent on new players. so i think even if we get this guy we'll make other signing for the midfield. and ronaldinho is coming to milan, champions of europe!!

32-year old Emerson is not worth that much. But a swap deal involving Oliveira seems very possible.

What would Emerson's position in the lineup be anyways? It is not worth paying that much for a player that will not start regularly.

i really do think we're gonna zambrotta or a very good LB. he can cover RB if we need him to. i think we all saw that janku is not capable to play in that position against strong opposition (he makes too many mistakes) i mean i love the guy and want him to stay (maybe he can play LM more for us and cover Lb when needed)

True...if Zambo comes, the way Oddo's been ruling our right flank...it spells bad news for Janku.

But then again, it means Milan can finally play with wingers, if as rumours suggest Carlo does want Ribery or Malouda...

I think it'd be real harsh on Janku to lose his place after such a superb season. He played in every CL game for us this season.

Oddo has the advantage of having Rino in front of him, he's more defensively minded, whereas Janku has Seedorf he doesn't know what the word 'defend' means, so it's harder for him to go forward. Even though he still does it with class. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

I agree....but if Zambo comes in Janku must either push up or ship out.

So I'm inclined to think this means no Zambo. Probably just a decent kaladze level CB. Maybe even Alex. Our focus will be on getting strikers and a couple of mf's.

A spare CB and new striker are a must, I'd be shocked if we didn't get a high quality one of each.

He is linked with us for some time now and Carlo really likes him(he told that before too) so there is a big possibility we will sign him. I don't like him but he can be a good cover for the DM position.

Yep,..I think it could be a close deal. Capello is probably leaving Real, so Emerson`s time is done. At Roma and Juventus Emerson played well, so I suppose he will do the same at San Siro... (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Unless they give him to us for free, I don't want him! And even if they do, I still don't want him... now if they could send him and Gago together for... let's say E15m, I'd take them! (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
