As much as I like Dida this is terrible news IMO. Dida is already 34 and is past his prime, him leaving would have benefitted both parties. If we get Amelia, Buffon or Gomes as well then it will be a good deal, otherwise this just shows a total lack of ambition...

The contract doesn't even mean that he will surely stay imo, he might have just signed out of respect for the club so as not to lose him on a free transfer.

Anyway, I think it's good news, saves us a headache from trying to get a goalkeeper in the summer when we have much more problemetic areas imo. We'll worry about buying a good goalkeeper when Dida really has nothing more to give, but right now I think he's fine

Don't quite get you. Those three names u mentioned would never agree to be second choice. Gomes I don't know...Brazillian players usually know their place. Besides if you see Amelia play sometimes you wouldn't blame howlers as only the property of Dida.

I don't agree with the prime thing. Goal keepers have a much higher shelf life. Look at Lehmann. He is still considered in the top 10 of the world's goalkeepers. (Below Dida I might add).

Thirdly, I worry you might be judging Dida over one bad match. His class and solidity can't really be questioned.

He might not be as quick as Gigi, but he can certainly save penalties hell of a lot better. Gigi, Buffon and Cech are generally accepted as the holy trinity in the world goal keeping fraternity.

So it's a good thing Dida is staying. In fact if we were to choose to sell him, we could easily command a 10+ million tag. Which we might do next season, irrespective of whether R10 comes or not.

I meant Dida would be second choice.

And Buffon or Gomes would be the equivalent of an extra 8 points over a season IMO

The only persons who might contest Dida's position for first choice in a team are Cech and Buffon. Since we're not getting them...I guess Dida is numero uno.

Dida's can give a couple of more years to Milan, before he goes back I guess to Corinithians.

Its with mixed feelings I receive these news (that sounded so retarded, I know).
I really like Dida, but as he's getting older, he's getting slower, and his stength have always been his reflexes.
I really love the current squad, but lets face it:
For each passing year, the team gets older, and our star players are already past their prime.
We need refreshments, but its like we don't want to change, and cling on the hope of some sort of rennaisance.

I dunno. On one side I'm happy Dida signed, on the other I think his prime has passed and we should have looked for someone to replace him. Still it's good news. It will stop him having second thoughts about the contract and concentrate only on the match.

I agree 100%... though I think this team has still something to give! And even if it holds us back (which is not entirely true) I'd rather see Paolo take his time! (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/king.gif)
