QUOTE (dst @ May 11 2008, 08:19 PM) He's good as a sub in my opinion. Yes, but nothing more. Also it would be wise to introduce a new, younger keeper as second next season so that we can count on him for the far future. Kalac should be sold, cause this season he made what he could, and it was his maximum.

QUOTE (Fillipo Simone @ May 12 2008, 12:31 AM) Yes, but nothing more. Also it would be wise to introduce a new, younger keeper as second next season so that we can count on him for the far future. Kalac should be sold, cause this season he made what he could, and it was his maximum.+1. Inter had Toldo as a substitute, and he is miles ahead of Kalac. Personally, I think someone younger as our number two is the least we deserve. Someone who can grow with time. And if we do intend to do some housecleaning this summer, we should shell out some change for a keeper who'd go up with time, not down. (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Kalac played 14 years for Australian, and stayed an understudy, playing only 54 matches. There has to be a reason for it. Honestly, I'd be contend if we kept him, but feel even better if a young, upcoming and more dependable keeper warmed our bench. That's the least we deserve.

QUOTE 05/07/2008 12:42
Kalac Wants Starting Role At Milan
Milan goalkeeper Zelco Kalac is looking forward to the new season and he insists that he will save the Rossoneri's blushes next term as he tries to become Carlo Ancelotti's regular first choice custodian.
The Australian shot stopper was influential last term and he took over Nelson Dida midway through the season as Carlo Ancelotti's first choice custodian after the Brazilian's woeful displays in front of goal which cost Milan dearly.
Kalac is now looking ahead and he is hoping to keep the faith which Ancelotti has shown in him.
“I think I did well last season and now I want to begin the new season as the first choice,†Kalac told La Gazzetta Dello Sport.
“I want the coach and the club to continue showing their trust in me and then, after all, it will be what I do on the pitch that counts.â€
The Rossoneri are currently looking for a top-class shot stopper to replace the unreliable Dida.
His howlers in both the Champions League and Serie A went towards ensuring Milan finished the season without any silverware.
Dida will be remembered for his shambles against Celtic at Park head during the Champions League group stages when he collapsed to the ground for no reason following a minor altercation with a Celtic fan.
Milan have been after Sebastian Frey of Fiorentina and Celtic's Artur Boruc but neither goalkeeper seems likely to arrive. Abbiati and Dida are still better. Dida has to try come back. He needs to be fit for the new season. And meanwhile we have to find another keeper to be our No. 1...

QUOTE Kalac > Dida. We made a run for 4th with him in goal, rather than being stuck in mid-table. We also finished 5th, had our run of five straight CL QFs snapped, and made the UEFA Cup with him in goal. QUOTE (acid911) “I think I did well last season and now I want to begin the new season as the first choice,†Kalac told La Gazzetta Dello Sport. Eh, yeah. Gotta love people who believe their own hype.

QUOTE (Fillipo Simone @ Feb 1 2008, 05:40 AM) No chance,..guys I warn you, this guy cannot be trusted. He's a real danger... That he is. And I'm afraid Abbiati is starting to fade into the same void after a bright start. I quiet honestly recall a match where he single handily won us, and got an 8-9 in the process. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/innocent.gif) Both unfortunately are 2nd choice material, and were it not for Dida's bad form, might not have earned the top spot. Anyway, for the moment, I don't mind them here. But a top, young keeper (Samir Handanovic gets my vote) should be a top priority, unless it gets too late. Which probably is.

If there's anything you should avoid when scouting players from this region it's keepers. Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian, Slovenian keepers...they are just like South Americans. They are born with a bug. They always managed to make wonders, like Kalac also, but screw up in the most unexpected way. Trust me, Handanovic is nothing different. My suggestion - Roma no. 2 Curci.
