Viola threaten TAR appeal
Thursday 12 October, 2006

Fiorentina have threatened to appeal to the civil justice court if their 19-point reduction is not cancelled by the CONI Arbitration Court.

The Viola presented their case on Thursday – following Juventus, Lazio and Milan’s hearings the day before – in an attempt to see their Calciopoli punishments reduced.

“Fiorentina are not guilty of any wrongdoing, that is why we do not want to hear the word discount – we want the punishment to be cancelled,” said Alberto Bruni, the club’s lawyer.

“I have trust in the court of arbitration and we gave them all the documents we prepared.

“For the first time I felt that I was facing people who were willing to listen to us, as this had never happened in front of the CAF and the Federal Court.

“If our request is not granted, we are willing to continue our battle and cannot exclude that we will appeal to the TAR civil court.

“I hope that will not be the case, but we are ready to fight if needs be.”

The court is expected to hand out the verdicts by the end of the month and rumours suggest that all the deficits might be decreased.

Juventus and Milan are set to receive a 10 and three-point reductions respectively, whereas Lazio and Fiorentina could be granted a five and eight-point reduction to the penalty inflicted in July.

I think the fact that Milan are the only club that has not threatened for such bull is telling. And to think we're the only ones clean too !!

I believe Milan have asked for it, Berlusconi wanted it .. But personally, I'll still with Maldini's view on this, I simple dont want it.

Giving it to Roma, cuz I would rather they have it than Inter .. I would have pleasure just knowing that the merda will be disgraced by the CONI Arbitration Court before the whole world .. Only Inter would still have face after that to keep on playing football (as usual) (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Ok .. The scudetto of the past two seasons should be erased from the record, as Maldini said .. As I would like to happen. BUT if .. They are gonna award it to someone, I wouldnt want Inter to have it; Roma, Palermo, Siena .. whoever .. That is my point.

Yep I get what you're saying, and I do agree with you that if that scudetto should have been awarded to ANYONE, it should have definately been Roma, at least they deserve it more then Interfor their great campaign last season, manageing to win 12 games in a row, with out ANY striker and Totti is proof enough

Viola Calciopoli penalty cut?
Saturday 14 October, 2006

There are rumours that Fiorentina will have seven points shaved off their 19-point Calciopoli penalty.

The four clubs involved in the first wave of the trials – Juventus, Milan, Lazio and Fiorentina – put their cases forward to the CONI Conciliation Committee this week.

It’s claimed that the Viola’s lawyers may have done enough to cut their handicap in the current Serie A season to 12 points.

“Our line of defence is very convincing,” assured representative Alberto Bruni. If the CONI accept the proposals, the charges for sporting fraud in the Lecce-Parma game would be reduced to mere disloyal behaviour.

Not only would this cut their penalty, but it’d also effectively clear the Fiorentina directors of intentionally trying to fix a result.

“Fiorentina are not guilty of any wrongdoing, that is why we do not want to hear the word discount – we want the punishment to be cancelled,” added Bruni, the club’s lawyer.

“I have trust in the court of arbitration and we gave them all the documents we prepared. For the first time I felt that I was facing people who were willing to listen to us, as this had never happened in front of the CAF and the Federal Court.

“If our request is not granted, we are willing to continue our battle and cannot exclude that we will appeal to the TAR civil court. I hope that will not be the case, but we are ready to fight if needs be.”

It’s also rumoured in the Italian Press that all the other Calciopoli clubs will receive a discount of 30 per cent on their positions.

Juventus would therefore have fine points restored, going from a –17 starting place to –12. Lazio could get four points handed back from the original –11 judgment and Milan would go from –8 to –6.

The verdicts are expected to be handed out at the end of this month.
