Milan block Kaka exitFriday 8 September, 2006Milan have again warned Real Madrid to forget about signing Kaka. “If they want to strengthen, they must look elsewhere,†said chief Adriano Galliani.
The latter made the statement after reading the comments of Real director general Predrag Mijatovic, who insisted the 24-year-old would one day join the Merengues.
“I do not intend to cause any controversy, but we do not allow such behaviour,†stated Galliani. “We are not a branch of another club.
“I met President Ramon Calderon and we spoke to each other,†added the Rossoneri official. “Milan are a great club with a great President and our recent history outweighs Real Madrid’s.
“We are not in a state of psychological subjection, if the Spanish club needs new players then this is not the right place to come.â€
The former Lega Calcio chief has also insisted that Kaka has never asked to leave Italy, a reason why the South American extended his contract until 2010 in the summer.
“Let’s take Chelsea as an example,†continued Galliani. “They chased Andriy Shevchenko for three years and we always said no.
“A negotiation started with the Premiership club only when the player expressed his desire to leave, but this is not the case with Kaka.â€
Real Madrid, however, consider Kaka the only true alternative to the retired Zinedine Zidane and have not yet ruled out the idea of seeing him at the Santiago Bernabeu.
