Bayern announce Toni deal
Bayern Munich have confirmed that Italian international striker Luca Toni has agreed a four-year deal with the German giants. The Fiorentina hitman has been strongly associated with the Bundesliga side and Bayern President Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has admitted that Toni is on his way. “We have finalised an agreement with Toni,†said Rummenigge on Wednesday. “He will sign a contract until June 30, 2011. “On June 8 he will be in Munich for his medical and he will then be officially unveiled to the Press. The transfer fee is £7.8m.†Bayern’s swoop is impressive given that they haven’t qualified for next season’s Champions League, a competition which initially seemed to be one of Toni’s priorities. The former Palermo and Brescia ace, who will allegedly earn £4m per season, was crowned as the 2005-06 Capocannoniere with 31 goals. Toni was also a reported target for Inter, Chelsea and Juventus.
