Hellas - Hungary 2-0

So, LaPalma... what do you think about Gekas' Gerd Müller-like goal!?? (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

Second goal by Seitaridis... Atletico Madrid RB and a Nova favorite. Nice goal!

I haven't checked this section in a few days and it has jumped a couple of pages, so here's a few points I'd like to make about some of the comments. Sorry if you feel like I'm digging up cr@p from the past (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

QUOTE (bigmacmtl @ Jun 2 2007, 08:36 PM)
ya they blew like 50 great chances... oddo was a joke. 3/4 of their chances came from his miskates and the goal was his mistake.
*

I personally though Oddo was Great, all of the chances Italy had either cam from Pirlo lobs or Oddo crosses, and I don't think it was his job to be markingthat carpenter. Barzagli should have done that (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

But Oddo was strong at the back and great in attack, he put in some great crosses.
----------------------------------------------------------

Now about the whole Poulsen vs Zidan, Maradona, etc. I've got to say I agree with kurt, even though I think everybody here is spinning around in circles and are not answering eachothers oppinion about the topic but rather repeating what your oppinion on the matter is.

@R7, jurt is not comparing Poulsen with Zidane and Maradona in term of ABILITY or class ON THE PITCH, he's comparing them in terms of the ridiculous things some of them are known to do because they are either retarded (poulsen) or hot headed (Totti, Zidane)

Now I know you love Zidane and as such but what he has done for football depite how great it was doesn't simply erase certain 'other' things he's done, like the head butt, or that TERRIBLE stomp in WC 98. Those this take away from him being agreat player NO, but in my eyes a player and professional like Zidane should never do such things.

Poulsen is a nobody is he does such things that either won't be talked about or forgotten within a few days, but if Zidane does it it will cause a bigger uproard because he is ZIDANE. So in a way it is worse if Zidane does such things.

QUOTE (kurtsimonw @ Jun 2 2007, 11:43 PM)
Poulsen is no different to Gattuso or Materazzi. Or even guys like Paul Scholes or Zidane for that matter.

It's only cheating if you get away with it.. I don't see how he benefited from being sent off and having a penalty given against him.

He's a class player, just because he's fouls alot and does dumb things it doesn't make a difference.

People still see Zidane as a class act, even post-Materaazi incident.. Just because he is seen as the 'good guy'. Poulsen was more than likely provoked today, he wouldn't hit somebody for no reason. I'm a huge fan of his, he's a top player, I'm just glad he plays for Sevilla.

Anybody can be made to look villain and hero.

Poulsen vs Kaka'

^^ Kaka' gives as good as he gets.
*

Poulsen knows a thing or 2 about provoking (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) ask Kaka and Totti about what they think about that it's shown perfectly clear in that video you posted, he goes for Kaka's legs when the ref is not looking and then goes down acting like he's the one being abused and provoked.

QUOTE (Rossoneri7 @ Jun 3 2007, 03:36 AM)
As if Sevilla hasn't won it last year too

Look .. I am not derailing this discussion into something that fits my liking, but into something more logical

Maradona is no cheat !! His qualities don't come with fouling

What straight answer ?? Ur stating a crooked fact .. That poulsen has class, that Maradona is the BIGGEST CHEAT EVER (just cuz he scored against England ?? btw, the ref would have been the cheat (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) ), that Zidane is a dirty player (because he head-butted Matrix), and Totti spitting .. but Poulsen is a class act isn't he

That is EXACTLY why u cant compare Zidane, Pele, Maradona, Totti, etc to Poulsen !! There is NOTHING in common. They are each highly respected members of the football world, while poulsen is .. Well, just ask that Swed what he thought of him today (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

If u insist on pointing out that Zidane head-butted or Maradona scored a hand goal (which was down to the ref  (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) ) ... At least they both SINGLE handedly won a lot with their clubs ... And yes, that makes everything better, not to justify why they fouled or did anything illegitimate, but they have given football much much more ! While poulsen has given jack sh1t.

P.S. ..

If u want to go on praising him and what not, by all means do so. Just dont pull in Zidane and Maradona into the same sentence. Honestly this is insulting my intelligence. I can't keep repeating myself.
*

This is were I don't agree with you, so it's ok for a Zidane or Maradon to do something like stomping on players or punching them but not ok for a guy like Poulsen, simple because he's not as much a great player as the others. Imo it's worse if a Zidane did something like that because he has a much bigger influence on people because he is such a LEGEND

This is the only aspect that I don't agree with you, that doesn't mean I'm defending Poulsen, because there are many other aspects of his game that are disgraceful, like constantly provoking players while the referee is not looking to get a rise out of them.

But the fact that it is ok for Zidane to stomp on someone but for Poulsen it's not because they are not on the same level as players is not something I agree with. I'm sorry

Han, Oddo said himself that he was at fault for the goal too...

And I don't like the way you said carpenter... Amateurs or not, those guys are footballers and scoring against Italy wouldn't be easy even for MVB! (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Yeah I know what Oddo said, but I still would like to know where the hell was Barzagli during that play, imo that was his area not Oddo's, sure Oddo should have done better when he was defending it but that was still Barzagli's area.

Well he is a carpenter isn't he? (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

And against the Italy that came out yesterday I would have scored (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Only Pirlo, Oddo, Pippo and Diana played well imo

Thanks for that han. That's exactly what I was looking for. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

But even still, provoking somebody to me isn't an offense, unless it gets personal. Just trying to get inside somebodies head to put them off their game is fine, that's what football's about. It happens ALL the time in every game, just sometimes people over-react and that's when you get a controversial incident.

I agree that Poulsen takesit to the next level and hits, kicks at pepole and stuff. He should still be respected as a professional and he obviously is a better player than people give him credit for.. You watch the reactions of his team-mates when he scored for Sevilla, they go absoloutly mental. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

You're welcome

And I never meant to say that he is a terrible player or anything like that, but I just don't condone the provoking and sometimes even violent aspects of his game.

As previously said, it doesn't change any of his abilities as a player but that part of his game just doesn't sit well with me that's all.

Actually the whole discussion from my part was that Poulsen was a dirty player. And that is all. But to me; Zidane and Maradona represent this sport we call football, not because of their status or their glory days, but because they have given this sport much more. Zidane head-butts Matrix (He had it coming (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) ), and what ? He got a red card. Okay, so it is fair now that Zidane walks out of a WC final, right ?!

So why don't people leave it at that ?? Why is it that everytime Zidane's name is brought up, people point out to his negative aspects (which accumilate to .0009% of his game (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) ) and make it look like he has done something wrong ?!

It isn't like Zidane gets into everygame punching and tackling and head-butting players left right and center as poulsen is (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Hell, even Kaka looses his temper, he did that last against United in Manchester (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
What about Ronaldinho ?? No, he kicked a player in the ****s ! Why don't we bring him in too the poulsen discussion ??

-------------------

And there was talk about Pele and Maradona too ?? hah, Maradona took drugs, so what, he got expelled from the world cup in 94. I was there (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

So I guess they all got what they deserved (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

But one thing remains ... Why would u compare Zidane and Maradona to Poulsen ?! Because they both tackled a player ?!

Give me a break, Poulsen can't do anything but punch, break a leg, or implement his karate on decent footballers. While the likes of Zidane and Maradona can take a team from defeat to an emphatic win in the space of 90 minutes. Can Poulsen do the same .. ??

---------------------

I understand where Kurt might stand on this, but not at the expense of blaming Maradona or Zidane. Whose qualities are for all to see.
