On a side note, with Barry now in the squad, he's Villa's penalty takeer, scored 10 of his last 11. He solves ALL problems.  (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

hehe arent gerrard and lamps both good penalty takers? (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) i mean gerrard in a CL final, yet they;ve both missed penalties for england.

First of all, no he can't take all the penalties if the match ends up at the penalty shoot-out!

Secondly, get over it... I mean you just can't do this! It's against your nature... like... white men can't jump... well, English men cannot take a penalty into the back of the net!! (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Owen Hargreaves is a World class penalty taker.. Then again, he's not even English. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Hmh? You're sure? I mean, he played the CL final for Bayern against Valencia, but Hitzfeld still did not selected him to shoot even for the first 6 takers...?

Has anyone else noticed that Hargreaves is now affecting a bad English accent in interviews? It's awful! And I'm honestly not all that convinced of his world-class calibre. I think a lot of it is hype because he was the only decent player for England in the world cup.

Barry for England, dammit!

No, he probably didn't take them for bayern, and if he was selected it's probably down to nerves more than anything.

But he and Ashley Cole are the best penalty takers we have by a long way, they're both superb penalty takers.

He's not World class, but he's alright.

So what's the situation with Italia ??

They are 2nd in the group .. with one point between 2nd and 3rd. We have Scotland away (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

The game against Georgia was an average game, nothing spectacular .. Hopefully in a months time Donadoni will have a larger selection of players. I think Alex is an integral part of Italia and the midfield dynamo of Milan is a mean brick wall in the middle of the park ..

Cannavaro Jr Thankful For Azzurri Opportunity

Napoli defender Paolo Cannavaro has again spoken of his delight at being called up to the Italy squad for the friendly with South Africa.

The 26-year-old has always lived in the shadow of his famous older brother Fabio, who captained the Azzurri to World Cup glory last summer and has won 111 caps.

However Paolo has made an excellent start to the season with Napoli, forming a formidable centre defence partnership with Maurizio Domizzi and helping the club to the second best defensive record in Serie A.

“I received the phone-call on Saturday evening telling me that I had been summoned for the friendly with South Africa,” said the stopper.

“I am enjoying this moment. I realise that it is only a friendly and that everyone is really concentrated on the big match with Scotland next month, however I am grateful for this opportunity.”

The ex-Parma man also commented on the bizarre road-rage incident concerning Napoli star Ezequiel Lavezzi. The Argentine striker was involved in a car-accident in Naples in the early hours of Saturday morning and reportedly had a blazing row with the occupants of the other vehicle.

The 22-year-old faces disciplinary action from his club after his girlfriend sensationally took off her belt and whipped a person around the head.

“The incident with Lavezzi seems strange to me and I do not want to say anything until I have spoken to him about it,” revealed Cannavaro. “I know Lavezzi well and it seems very strange.”

The Eurosport commentator for Russia-England is totally on a roll. Has me giggling through work. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

And in good news for Porty, Portugal defeated the Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan 2-1. Portugal goals from C Ronaldo and Makakula, who was a late call up to the team.

Russia 1-1 England.

A "penalty". He tripped over his OWN feet OUTSIDE the box, very poor decision.
