Milan official Umberto Gandini is confident his club will have few problems in reaching the last 16 of the Champions League.

The Rossoneri director made the boast this evening after his side were placed in a comfortable group which will contain Lille of France, Greece’s AEK Athens and Anderlecht.

“I was expecting a tough draw, but you can’t describe this section as that on paper,” he commented.

“We are up against teams which have done well. Lille and AEK came through the qualifiers, while Anderlecht represent Belgium football which isn’t at the top of the European game.”

Gandini was also delighted with the way the calendar has been drawn up with San Siro ties against AEK in Week 1 and Lille in Week 6.

“The fact that we start and end the group stages at home is quite an advantage for us,” he added.

“The team needs to play with great intensity, but I’m sure that we are ready to go all of the way in this competition.”

When asked whether the Calciopoli hit club had been received differently in Monaco today after this summer’s off field dramas, Gandini insisted he encountered no problems.

“Nothing has changed,” he argued. “We’ve not lost any of our allure on the European stage. Everything is as it was.”

Milan fixtures: Sept 13 Milan-AEK; Sept 26 Lille-Milan; Oct 17 Anderlecht-Milan; Nov 1 Milan-Anderlecht; Nov 21 AEK-Milan; Dec 6 Milan-Lille.

This draw scares me a bit, now I think that they will take it even easier in the transfer market and might even consider to not even try for anyone else, saying that we are fine the way we are

Did y'all see the official site. Gandini says among other things as a 'joke' that Braida and Galliani had gone to Madrid just to see Anderlecht play, a kind of scouting if you will..

I guess this means Milan won't be shopping in Spain anymore.

Could be.

I could see Galliani coming out making some rational like that.

They are joke in the world of football.

Very easy group stage .. I think lady luck finally smiled on Milan ..

I still think we will get reinforcemants .. Cant imagine us going on w/ just this team, although our team is already strong .. We just need that something extra that Sheva used to give us ..

Hopefully soon

Extra...that Sheva gave? Sure, but I'll also take the extra that Gallas and Oddo shall give...maybe even what Clichy will give, though that is not gonna happen!

I hope that such an easy group in CL, will allow us play better in Seria A, and cut the point deficit.
