Well, after he almost single-handedly nullified our entire attack in the 2008 CL match at the Emirates, I can assure you he didn't disgrace himself one bit. Can't remember who it was, but some former Arsenal player (I think it might be Dixon or Winterburn) said it was the greatest performance by a defender they'd ever seen on the new stadium.

I'll finish by saying that if Maldini's last years were a disgrace, then most players spend their entire careers disgracing themselves.

He wasn't disgraceful but he had a few mares. That game against Inter always sticks out for me. He and Dida were too bad for words.

Ha, I was expecting this kind of reaction. It's Maldini we're talking about after all. Perhaps disgraceful is a bit too strong, but he didn't exactly shine either. I just think he should have retired as a triumphant in 2007. It would have been a fitting end to his glorious career.

And I remember Oddo have a fantastic game then as well. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/96.gif)

He was not as good as He was in previous years and He indeed had a few bad games but still not more than what the greatest defenders out there have. We were used to Him being perfect and He was not in those final two seasons but if it was a younger player in His place we'd be talking about two great seasons and not everything would be blamed to His age. It's a shame but when a younger player makes a mistake everybody says he just had a bad day and when it happens to an older one they say he should retire.

I never felt that Paolo should have retired earlier than he did. He still was class even if not always as his divine self. I was just grateful that I got to watch him even more because players like him born once in generation, if you are lucky.

Naah, it's not up to us commenting when a player should or should not have retired. It's strictly personal.

Milan Icon Paolo Maldini: I'd Never Join Inter Like Leonardo

Milan icon Paolo Maldini has made it clear that he'd never join Inter.

Former Milan defender Paolo Maldini has revealed that he'd never upset the Milan fans by joining arch rivals Inter in any capacity.

Brazilian coach Leonardo recently accepted the job in the Nerazzurri dugout and has since received his fair share of criticism from the Milan faithful.

Maldini said that performing a role for the Rossoneri's city rivals is not something he would consider, telling Sky Sport Italia: "I would never accept a job offer from Inter like Leonardo did. My story is completely different than Leonardo's situation. [Inter president] Moratti's appreciation for Leonardo suggests that they are at the same personal level."

The legendary Italian defender then went on to discuss his future and pointed out that he isn't interested in a role at Milan just yet.

"When I retired from professional football, the idea was to enjoy life a bit and spend more time with my family and get busy with my personal interests," said Maldini.

"If there comes a moment where I get the chance to work at the club that has meant so much to me and do something back by using my experience and enthusiasm, I'll always be available. That moment isn't there yet though."

One of the pillars for which made you a Milan Legend is that you have dedicated your entire professional career to Milan .. Obviously you wouldn't desecrate all that by moving across the divide. What you need to do though is to put on your shorts for one more season and remind us of what a disciplined squad should resemble (IMG:style_emoticons/default/king.gif)

Berlusconi wants Maldini back

Milan patron Silvio Berlusconi is “working” on bringing Paolo Maldini back to the club possibly as a director.

The legendary former defender retired in 2009 after devoting his entire 19-year career to the club in red and black.

Maldini has expressed an interest in working for Milan, even turning down the chance to join Carlo Ancelotti at Chelsea as a Coach.

Speaking at a party to celebrate his 25 years as Milan's owner, Berlusconi was asked about his intentions for Maldini.

“We are working on his return to the club,” he said.

Good news. Maldini and Milan can't stay apart for too long.

Hmm, wasn't that 25? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) If it wasn't then I'm five years younger, seeing as I was practically born the day Paolo Maldini made his debut with Milan. News editors, seriously. It won't hurt anyone doing some research or proofreading.
