Not really going to enter into debate on this but I will note that Bordeaux also crashed out of the UEFA Cup so...

Thats very funny. So that takes away from gourcuff because they crashed out of uefa cup? I guess our players are the same level as bordeaux because we crashed out of uefa cup ttoo.

It might just indicate that Gourcuff isn't the world-beater some people seem to think he is.

To be fair to Gourcuff, he didn't play in the 2nd leg (possibly due to injury or suspension?)

No doubt, obviously hes not at the same status as Kaka. But he is definetly someone we could have used and he would have cost nothing, wouldn't you agree?

Actually, no. I don't. He's talented but I don't think Milan is a good fit for him.

Ancelotti’s Stance Over Milan Owned Gourcuff Pleases Blanc

While Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti continues to deride the French international in the press, Girondins de Bordeaux’s head coach is lapping up the criticism.

It may not have been inspirational for young French midfielder Yoann Gourcuff to hear more negative comments directed at him from Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti earlier this week, however, his current boss, Laurent Blanc, is delighted that the Italian has chosen to take such a stance on the youngster.

“I don't know whether he's going to come back to Milan. It's going to be difficult, but not impossible,” said Ancelotti of the promising 22-year-old earlier this week, according to Ligue 1’s official website.

“You have to prove your worth at Milan very quickly. We can't afford to give young players several chances to let them grow. It's perhaps a shame, but it's like that.

"I understand his disappointment – it's not easy to play just the end of games – I'm well aware of that – but when I gave him the chance to play, he had a tendency to want to prove himself too much, so his performance was solely individual.

"He wasn't able to play for the team. He still has to work on his mental strength, because he crumbled a bit too quickly here. He's a very good player – there's no doubt – but his mental strength was his main problem."

But Blanc revealed that he relishes such comments as they simply play into les Girondins’ hands. Indeed, the player has a clause in his loan deal that means he can stay in the Aquitaine region of France on a permanent basis should the he agree and should the French outfit pay Milan €15 million.

“I'm glad that Carlo Ancelotti thinks like that because it allowed us to bring Gourcuff to Bordeaux,” explained Blanc. “It's good to have an opinion, but it can't be definitive on a young player who is still developing. If we had to give him a report on Yoann's season, it would be very positive, and that could make him change his mind.”

With Ancelotti’s mind seemingly made-up and the player increasingly reticent to return to the Serie A side, it appears that the San Siro is an unlikely home for the flourishing Frenchman next season.

To me it seems like Ancelotti gets defensive everytime he is asked about Gourcuff. Is it so hard to say something good about Gourcuff and his achievements in bordeaux. The kid is doing good in Bordeaux and Ancelotti should say so.

how are his comments fair. He didn't offer gourcuff enough chances to even play. When you go on in the 80th minute what do you expect him to do? When you constantly see a young player trying hard in practice and giving his all and the coach doesn't even look at him and completely ignores him that just makes you lose all motivation for playing for the club. That is why when he went on he tried to do all the fancy sh!t because he had no other way to attract attention. You think he is the only one? Look at every other youth player on our team right now, rotting no matter how hard they try.

Ex insterista comment makes me laugh. What does that have to do with anything. Hes the coach of bordeaux and carlo publicly announced how much a of an idiot he is with his youth policy and blanc is enjoying it because carlo is stupid enough to give up a worldclass player for nothing. Watch they'll sell him to another club for 30 million.

The great carlo ancelotti and milan arenow the laughing stock of the world with his stupid comments. Yes our team is so great that youngsters dont ever find time but at manchester/barca they some how get time. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

How precisely do you know this little gem, blue? Because what I infer from Yoann's lack of opportunity on the pitch is basically that there was a problem with him in training.

As for the laughing stock business, I will respectfully observe that you may just be blowing things out of proportion because you like Gourcuff and think Ancelotti is wrong about him.
