Actually, there was a really nice article about Marchisio in Gazzetta a few days ago. Stefano Borgonovo writes a regular column for the paper in which he offers thoughts on players who he finds notable. A couple of weeks ago it was Diego Milito. The other day it was Marchisio, who he rates rather highly and tips for future greatness.

I think the kid is doing remarkably well so far and he's getting a good deal of playing time. He's got good potential.

QUOTE (zdrossoneri @ Nov 29 2008, 05:38 PM) *
I'm almost certain Italy has a good new generation too! it has been said and written a lot that Italy has a bright future in that respect.

In defense Chiellini ((IMG:style_emoticons/default/blush.gif) I know. but he'll be at the top level for at least a decade, so he's young!) and Santacroce. in midfield Giovinco (who I'm turning into a fan of), Aquilani, Montolivo and Marchisio (has anyone mentioned the latter is good??) and in attack there are likes of Rossi, Balotelli (YES! Balotelli! he's slow and arrogant but really good, with monstrous physique and scary shots) and Paloschi.

I'm sure that's not all. whoarethepatriots or Tennie could tell you more about them. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) they particularly rate Abate highly.

The only difference is that France's new generation of talented players is younger than Italy's, which is an advantage for Italy IMO as the World Cup is near
.

good point

chiellini is already world class, in the top 5 CB in the world right now IMO. i just lvove his style too. i like tall CB but he's quick and hard nosed, good in the tackle and always a threat on set pieces, great marking as well.

theres also lupoli, lanzafame(highlighy rated by juve and palermo fans), cigarini, osvaldo, lorenzo de silvestri one of the best young FUllbacks in the world, (would be the ideal signing for us, wouldnt be that expensive)

dessena is another one people dont talk that much about but i think he's gonna be pretty good.

Bayern Munich To Scout Yoann Gourcuff
German champions Bayern Munich have shown interest in Milan owned Yoann Gourcuff and will be seding scouts to watch the current Bordeaux player...

Yoann Gourcuff was sent out on loan to Girondins Bordeaux this seaon to gain more experience after continually struggling to break into AC Milan's talent-packed first-team midfield.

The player has flourished in France under coach Laurent Blanc and is attracting plenty of interest from clubs all over Europe including Bayern Munich, according to tuttomercatoweb.

The Bavarian outfit will send scouts to watch the French international when Bordeaux face Valenciennes at the Stadium Jacques Chaban-Delmas to determine if he would be a good fit for Jurgen Klinsmann's side.

However, Bayern will have to negotiate with Milan if they want to sign the 22-year-old, as the Rossoneri still own the player. According to reports, there is currently a provision in the loan agreement that would allow Bordeaux to sign Gourcuff for €13.5 million at the end of the campaign.

If we have any sense, we will bring him back at the end of the season and keep him in the squad. He's shown he's a good player, and can perform in the CL.

This management has no sense at all (see retention of useless players, only papering over cracks etc). If he is sold, lets say i wont be surprised one bit

Like who? He's a young attacking midfielder (so a position we need to fill) who has shown he can score in France and more importantly in Europe.

He should hopefully get the chance to play in the UEFA Cup later this season, assuming Roma do the business and get the point they need. He's also scored at international level.

Of course, we must note that he is more or less having the side built around him at Bordeaux. He's the central figure, playing quite high up the pitch but with freedom to roam. At Milan, he'd more than likely get used in the midfield three alongside Pirlo and Gattuso. I think he can be quite effective there, but it depends whether he can settle into that role.

He can also play behind the striker(s) when Ronaldinho or Kaká are injured or in need of a rest.

At this moment I can only think of Marek Hamsik.
I would prefer Yoann Gourcuff since he's more Zidane-ish, he's got great skills, he even plays like Zidane too and certainly more entertaining to watch.
That's the problem, as talented as he is, he's not accustomed to Serie A's game or Milan's system for that matter, hence being central figure there doesn't mean he'll perform in Milan. That's my only worry.

Unlike Marek Hamsik, he has played in Serie A since 2004 and scored more than 25 goals already.

Exactly. He must learn to react differently. Last season Gourcuff was mentally not set for Milan. His behaviour on pitch, like the small corner-thefts and other details.

He's a big potential, and maybe he'll turn into something good.

Thanks to Ancelotti, now Gourcuff doesn't want to come back ... he felt unappreciated in our team.

THANKS A LOT CARLETO!!!

By the way when is he going to change our style or when is he going to be sacked????

When is our midfield going to start functioning in a different way? We've become more predictable than the sky dawning blue every day...

QUOTE
Gourcuff: Milan Were A Great School, But…
The Frenchman left the Rossoneri on loan this summer and is unwilling to discuss his future, as he claims that he ‘never heard from Ancelotti’.

Yoann Gourcuff joined Milan in 2006, but failed to adapt to life in Serie A and the Diavoli opted to loan him out to Ligue 1 side Bordeaux in the summer.

And the 22-year-old has been in superb form this season, earning his first call-up to the France national side and even netting a crucial goal against Romania. This prompted speculation that the Milanesi will bring him back next year, but the midfielder is tight-lipped on the matter.

“Did something go wrong at Milan? I won’t answer that,” he curtly replied to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Milan were a great school for me and I tried to pick my teammates’ brains, but coach [Carlo] Ancelotti has never called me up since I left in the summer.”

The Girondins travel to the Stadio Olimpico to face Roma next Tuesday, knowing that a victory would see them through to the knock-out stage of the Champions League.

“It will be a fascinating clash that we must win at all costs, if we are to continue our European adventure,” he noted.

“Both sides love good football and always aim to entertain. If we’ll be able to defend well, our chances to get a result will definitely increase.”
