Since Silvio insists on a 4 man defense and 2 strikers, there is no choice but to play with only 4 mids.

I still think that Pirlo would be OK for next season even if we continue to play him the way we have been since he came, the only thing we need to do is rotate him more he simply can't play in almost every match of the season. Think about it, we were playing the same way in the 1st half of the season as in the 2nd but Pirlo seemed invisable all through the 2nd half where as in the 1st half of the season he was amazing, he was putting in a lot of free-kicks and he was making all those killer passes that make Milan work so well but in the 2nd half he wasn't doing that because of fatigue

I kinda think our midfield is overcrowded. I mean, we bring in two very exciting young names in Gourcuff and Foggia while taking Christian Brocchi back from a very good season in Fiorentina. We already have Ambrosini, Vogel and Jankulovski on the bench, we're adding these guys and we only release Rui Costa from last years squad. Gourcuff and Foggia needs to play to develop, but they're not gonna be able to do that with all these other great champions standing in their way.
I'd suggest we cash in on Vogel and possibly Jankulovski(as Serginho also can play in midfield), both of them have been tracked by many clubs since the World Cup. That way, we'd have a midfield looking something like this:

Pirlo(Ambrosini)
Gattuso(Brocchi)
Seedorf(Foggia)
Kaká(Gourcuff)

Now, it will of course be another case if Carlo lets Brocchi play as a right back, which he did against Red Star when he came in. Nevertheless, I can't see Vogel taking any permanent spot in this Milan-squad even if he's a terrific player. Someone's gonna have to leave.
