It's hard to recall a better centre-half performance from last season than Philippe's display against Milan in the Champions League.

The Swiss defender tends to be judged on his rare mistakes but he was outstanding after replacing the injured Kolo Toure after seven minutes of the first leg against the reigning European champions. Philippe snuffed out the threat of Kaka, Alexandre Pato and company before repeating the trick in the San Siro 13 days later.

Philippe's tenacity, aerial power and will to win are valuable assets. Also he tends to thrive when he gets a run in the side. That was certainly the case at the start of last season when William Gallas was unavailable and Philippe contributed to six clean sheets in his first eight games. He made 31 appearances in total during the 2007/08 campaign and popped up with a couple of goals too.

It's easy to forget that Philippe is still a young player because he seems to have been around for a while, not just at Arsenal but at international level too. He was part of the Swiss defence which did not concede a goal at the 2006 World Cup and played every minute of his country's campaign at Euro 2008.

I just view it as another warm up.. no big deal.

I heard Flamini was pretty good... and Zambrotta did pretty well (finally he's settling in better and at the right time too). Kaladze... well... that still makes the case we need another defender.

yeap, we need another defender. Maybe Senderos (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

A.C. Milan communicates an agreement has been reached with FC Chelsea for the passage of Andriy Shevchenko to the Milan shirt. The player will be in Milan tomorrow to undergo the medical visits. The terms of the economic agreement with FC Chelsea are confidential.

Ambro was the man of the match. He conceded a free kick yes, but it's not like he gave them the goal, it was well played by the merda players and Kalac didn't even see the ball.

yes. I think that Kakà and Ambro was the men of the match.

The declarations of Bonera:

"Personally I'm doing fine, already on Sunday I was available, that's the important thing. I'm ready to eventually substitute an important player like Oddo and I have to give my contribution to the team to reach the fourth place in the table.

Unfortunately in the game against Atalanta we were unable to earn points for our objective. We played a bad first half, then fortunately in the second half we were more determined.
Away from home we've always done well because we wanted it from the first minute, while at home we often gave away the first 45 minutes of the game several times.

I think a solution could be to start strongly from the first minutes of the match and letting the opponent understand that it's us who is playing at home, trying to play close together, and trying to score early, which we haven't managed to do often so far.

Saturday we are playing against Cagliari who are doing well right now. They've managed to get many points against several teams and they're almost outside the relegation zone. Certainly they will come here to try and get points for the relegation battle and they are playing good football."

at San Siro is very hard for us this season and i don't know why?.
in the recent history San Siro was our strength (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

See our record this season:
at home: 4-7-4 (24 pts)
on the road: 9-3-4 (30 pts) (Best of Serie A)

In the section Squad. I found a mistake with the flags.
Dario Simic have the flag of Costa Rica and not the Croatian flag
Check it...
