I find some of the targets of this transfer market to be, well, nauseating. Not a fan of Robinho in any way and not a fan of Ibra (though he's now a milan player and..forza milan).

+327496

and Maxwell + Robinho ?

We're back to being a 2nd home for Brazilians plus we've practically signed a new squad this transfer window, looking alot like Chelsea all of the sudden without the fat paychecks.

I guess for those who were calling for a revolution...this is probably it.

But on the other hand if we're getting all these bargain purchases i'm all for it.

So instead of "we'll rely on youth!!" it's "we'll rely on youth!!(if we can't get star players for cheap and they're willing to take a massive pay cut)" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

btw Merkel > Robinho

yeh i said it!

I think it's time we stopped being so picky about players' attitude and considered more the technical point of view. Look at Sneijder and Eto'o: they don't particularly have a mellow attitude but they rocked Inter's world last season. And besides, we all know Milan's locker room has always been a place of harmony and friendship. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

I am looking at it from a technical point of view, X-Off. I don't like Ibra and would really have been annoyed if Milan had spent $40MM for him. But for $24MM? Sure, why not? I can suck it up for a year or two.

Robinho is another matter. He's got an atrocious record for petulance and I wonder if he's really all that technically - and if he'd be happy not being the total #1 star of the team (cos I sure wouldn't bench pato for him). We'd do better off getting a trequartista or regista and a fullback (and yes, I know that Berlusconi is buying up various players that appeal to him but that doesn't mean I have to agree with his picks).

i wish we had'nt bought Ibra at all and just gone for Dzeko for that extra 5mil and Robinho is just plain lazy (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

Dzeko for 30m is not realistic. Thats why we did not get him.

On Robinho, I'm a little hesitant on this one too. We desperately need a Ronnie and Pato backup. Someone like Elija maybe, who could play the bench for a season or two and then be a starter with quality. Robinho, is just....not a backup. I'm worried about this one a little. And with Borri gone, our only tactical change is with Pippo, which is ok, but I'd prefer another striker of some sort.

Robinho would be a brilliant signing. Let's get it straight. It's called depth.

Robinho, Ronaldinho, Ibrahimovic and Pato - all of them - can play in more than 1 position. That would be awesome so we can challenge UCL and Serie A without a problem on the offense department (add Inzaghi to those 4).

Obviously do not expect all 4 to be playing on the time (they'll be rotating). Only if we're down on the last 10 minutes of a match or so.

But it's surely an exciting signing. The board is showing how badly they miss silverware...

I think the Brazilian love would help. Robinho would mind being benched by Pato a lot less than by say someone like I dunno...Giovinco.

Also, I think you'd be surprised how much playing time they will be afforded. Coz let's face it, if even one of the trident attack get injured we're screwed. With Robinho...we just shift them around. Since Pato can play anywhere on the trident...and Robinho can play on either wing.

Agree partly -- the thought of having actual quality depth to the squad is...well, squeal-inducing.

Just still not sure about Robinho's being the right one, both skillset and personality wise (wouldn't have picked Ibra either but if Bartha are going to gift him to us for peanuts, even I won't say no. He's a jerk but he's a very skilled one).

EDIT: to expand the depth pool a bit, I'd still prefer someone who could deputize for Pirlo or Turtle. We don't have any backup registas.

I agree that Robinho would give us massive depth, but imo we shouldn't lose Boriello, we need all 5 to compete on all fronts, Pato will most probably get injured let's face it, so then we'd still end up with 3 players for 3 positions plus Pippo. That while having to play twice a week would still put us in a tight spot. Which is why we need Boriello, he'll give us the chance to rest Ibra, or play a completely different setup in a game where we want to rest players

First line-up

Zambro--Nesta--Thiago--Antonini
Ambro--Pirlo--See/Boateng
Pato--Ibra--Dinho

This would be our ratated squad for Coppa Italia games or matches before big CL ties or when we have midweek Serie A games against weaker opponents

Bonera--Sokratis--Yepes--Janku
Rino--Boateng--Flamini
Seedorf
Bori--Robinho

This would enable us to have a great starting 11 and a really strong second string team, something we haven't had since the days of Rui Costa, Stam, Crespo...

Not sure i implied that there was just an observation.

Seems like a recurring theme recently.
