Fish, tell your person that she's getting some tuff competition on the Nesta front, she better come back and stake her claim (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

She'd just start squealing again, han. Do you really want to subject me to that?

Anyway, she'd just say that to the best of her knowledge she's the only one on the board who's actually met Nesta. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/96.gif)

Abbiati is the one you can trust more I guess.
Even if Amelia impressed at Juventus game, first goalie now could make him screw up..

BTW, like your avatar, Nesta # 13 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

I agree with your opinion about Abbiati.

And I think Nesta should take the armband. We should run a campaign (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

He won't because he promised the Lazio fans never to captain a different team.

Anyone ever think that Nesta would have stayed his entire career at Lazio had they not had the financial problems that forced them to sell?

I have such a hard time thinking about Nesta, being probably the best defender of this generation spending his entire career with a team like Lazio.

When he was at Lazio, they were pretty amazing.

And yeah, had they not had massive issues and been forced to sell, I think he'd have stayed (he's apparently got a nephew in their youth system who's pretty good).

I don't think he'll go back now though - he's made several statements over the years that make it clear that no matter his fondness for the club, he does not get along with its president.

Yes they were great but had they still landed in the same position as they did, I just cannot imagine Nesta just wasting away at a mid table team, of course Totti is another example but Roma have had more recent success and are regularly competing for a top 4 finish, so it's still not the same thing...

I think if he hadn't wanted to go, the club would have sold him eventually. It does clubs no good to keep players who are better than the rest of the team.

That said, I think it's really classy on Nesta's part to refuse captaincy.

+1, it makes me like him more than I used to, which I thought was impossible.
