Italy midfielder Gennaro Gattuso claims he is not thinking of his
club future, but expects to remain at Milan next term.Midfield enforcer Gattuso is gearing up for Sunday's World Cup final
against France, but he was forced to field questions on his future on Friday.
Milan are one of four Italian clubs who could be relegated to Serie B
or below, with prosecutors seeking severe sanctions in the match-fixing trial.
A number of European giants are watching the developments in
Italy with interest.
Gattuso has been linked with a move to Manchester United, like
Azzurri coach Marcello Lippi, but he expects to stay in Italy with the Rossoneri.
"I am certain that I will remain at AC Milan and that I will play in
Serie A next season," said Gattuso.
"If this doesn't happen, then I will talk to the club and hope to remain and
finish my career at Milan.
"The press can write whatever they want.
"At this point, I cannot think of another club wanting me or anything else
but Sunday's final.
"This game is bigger than myself, I have never expected to be able
to play a World Cup final, so all my energy is directed at this."
When asked to comment on the future of Lippi, Gattuso added: "I hope
that Lippi stays with us.
"Beside the enormous respect and friendship that I have with him, he
is able to get the best out of his players and that's very important for
our national team."
