Cassano when he was younger and on his game was simply amazing. Forget his time with us or Real or Inter. He'd already gone off the deep end by then.

Just look at some of the games he had at Roma. He was a genius imo. But he could never truly realise his true potential simply because his mental issues held him back.

I hate this. I hate this nonsense of a young player having a few great matches then suddenly everyone fawning over them like they're Maradona.

I call it Senna Syndrome - the ease with which a good performer is elevated to genius or above in the event of death or failure, while others who came after, achieved far more, dominated more, achieved things no one else ever has (COUGH VETTEL COUGH) get next to no credit while modern fans fawn over what the earlier one could have done.

Which is not to smear Senna, fine driver - but seems higher rated than those who achieved more both at the SAME TIME as him (Prost) and subsequently (a whole bunch).
