QUOTE (Rossoneri7 @ May 3 2008, 06:58 AM) Why are you comparing Milan with United or Chelsea ?! Those teams put together don't come close to Milan's success (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/96.gif) And about the transfer, this is what Silvio was talking about. The English dominance, all down to the liquidity that they have in comparison to other top leagues. I got into Milan in the early 90's at that time, Serie A had the allure and had all the best players. The EPL, LA Liga, etc they just got the table scraps. I mean if any remember Parma, nuff said. And during that time Italian clubs used to pay staggering figures. Bottom line is ... The EPL has more money than Serie A and they will spend more. So if that is what you want from a club, then it is best you quit Milan and cheer on United or Chelsea. Milan wont spend like Liverpool or Chelsea or United.
p.s. In the long run, Milan has become the most decorated club in international level. Where is Chelsea and United on that stretch ? (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) thanks but cheering on milan for me will not stop anytime soon. You still don't get what many of us are saying. I will stop now because you are galliani thru and thru. You look at one side of the arguement and dont look at the other. Yes man u and cheslea combined doesnt even come close to our success. But what they do have over us is that they can beat us without breaking a sweat. When our only real threat on the pitch is one player, kaka that is disappointing. Seriously all the big teams have to do is mark kaka out for the entire 90 and we wont produce any gold. We either have to hope someone has a good day(red arrow) or hope that god is on our side that day.

I support Milan, in the good times and the bad times .. I'm a supporter, nothing more nothing less. I see a HUGE, no that is not cutting it VERY VERY HUGE gap between the money circulation in football in England and in Italy. If that is not enough, then the taxes are another thing to consider. Hence, Chelsea, United and all those clubs you wish to bring up can afford to go all out and buy players like Essian for 10x his price or come to a club like Milan and hand over 45M for a 30 yr old Shevchenko. And secondly, why are you complaining to me ?! Since you have got it all figured out, go send Galliani a letter. And tell him exactly how he is not doing his job !

I also agrre with R7. I don't like this view on football in which one only cares about today. We aren't the most succesfull team of the last 20 years because we spent more money than others. We spent it wisely and will do so in the future. If EPL teams can and are willing to spend zillions on mediocre players (or for good players) it's their choice. Milan always managed to be competative and we'll be it in the future as well. One or two bad years....it's not unusual. Real Madrid and Barca have these as well. But like them Milan will always come back.

QUOTE (mishie @ May 12 2008, 05:55 PM) so yes i think Sky has completely destroyed football in england but its the sign of the times i'm afraid the mighty pound, dollar or euro rules I think Sky is one of the main reasons football in England is back at the top. In the late 80s/Early 90s it was in a bad state - partially due to us not being in Europe, but Sky has put huge amounts of money into the sport which has helped it become what it is. What it has destroyed is local fans, kids nowadays just see United, Liverpool, etc. and support them instead of their local teams. From my side of the Atlantic (so I'm seeing things differently than someone in England would), it seems to me that Sky has turned English football into an 'entertainment product'. Watching stuff on Sky (or its american counterpart, Fox) is almost like watching Dream Team. It's become all about money.
The unfortunate counterpart seems to be the neglect of the grassroots game -- and in the long term, that may seriously come back to hurt the English NT, whether it much affects the Premier League or not.

@mishie .. Yes Lentini's transfer was insane QUOTE (Tennie @ May 12 2008, 09:10 PM) From my side of the Atlantic (so I'm seeing things differently than someone in England would), it seems to me that Sky has turned English football into an 'entertainment product'. Almost always, these things don't travel too long in success. I mean EPL teams are spending more, yet their debt is increasing ... If for example Abramovic leaves Chelsea tomorrow, and there is no one in the market to endorse the debt that Chelsea are in .. Woohoooo !!! United, Liverpool, etc all these teams will fall back at some point. Question is, when !? The exception in England, from what I hear, is Arsenal ... Wenger is a business major, and has adopted an economic and moderate method of spending (transfer fees, wage structure, so on and so forth) ... Today, Arsenal stand as the club with the least debt amongst the top teams in the EPL.
