We've been discussing this in the old Serie A thread. Let's move convo here
Gabbia to Villareal almost done. Loan without option
On the surface this doesn't make any sense. We should be selling him outright. But apparently Villareal needed a defender and this is probably being done to sweeten the Chukwueze deal.
Hopefully Gabbia has a good season and we can sell him off for around 10m next summer.

Rebic off the books is massive
Now Origi needs to be next.
Ballto-Toure and Messias are on minimal wages. Still important to move them on but Rebic, Origi and Florenzi are 3 of our highest earners and they don't really have any value.
Messias is being linked to Besiktas as well. Hopefully we ca get it done. Pioli playing him in a pre-season friendly and him subsequently getting injured is the epitome of idiotic Pioli decisions. Let's see if that bites us in the @ss.
Hopefully we can get buyers for Origi and Messias. Ballo-Toure rejected Fulham... If they don't go, we should just terminate their contracts at this point. We should not allow bench warmers to keep collecting their paychecks like we've done in the past. Be ruthless with these players
Regarding Musah. I'm just not sure about him. He's a box-to-box. He's very young and raw. And 20m seems like a lot. Especially when we desperately need a DM. I watched the 1st half against Juve, and it is the same issues we saw last season. Our defence get's too exposed and then mistakes happen. Krunic CANNOT be the starting player for that position until Benna comes. It defeats the purpose of all the other great business we've done so far.
All the rumours I keep seeing are for another striker. We're absolutely stacked in attack. DM should be top priority.

Musah Here we go according to Romano.
Not sure about this one. Would have preferred a traditional DM. Can't believe we're going into the season with Krunic as our starting DM. This has facepalm written all over it considering all the good work we've done
I'm sure Musah has a lot of upside but I'm seriously worried about our defence getting continually exposed. Especially considering we have a difficult start to the season

QUOTE (X-Offender @ Jul 30 2023, 11:12 PM) I'm pretty sure Pioli and the management know what they're doing here. They're well aware that we are exposed in that DM position until Bennacer gets back. Either we'll sign another mid or Musah will play there.
But I agree that we are too exposed. I saw a few moments from the Madrid game, and RLC was being played as AM with Krunic and Pobega in CM. I think it's time we dropped this 4-2-3-1 system and adopted a fully fledged 4-3-3. We have the right players for it. Play Musah as holding him (or sign someone else), RCL and Reijnders on the sides, Leao and Chukwueze/Pulisic on the wings. After last season I cannot say that I trust Pioli in anyway, shape or form. He showed last season that he is limited. How we're trusting him with the keys to this team is beyond me after what we saw last season and how much we've spent. The plan is to play 4-3-3, but we all know it will once again end up looking like a 4-2-4 on the pitch. Which will leave the defence isolated and the mids running themselves into the ground. While in attack we simply pass the ball around endlessly with zero plan as to how to break down the opposition. I've already seen shades of this vs Juve in the friendly. Honestly, despite all the good business we're doing. Pioli worries me the most that he actually has no clue about how to get all these pieces to work. QUOTE (X-Offender @ Jul 30 2023, 11:16 PM) By the way, I'm reading that Eintracht are interested in Adli, and we might sell him for 7-8m.
What a stupid thing to do! If we switch to 4-3-3 Adli would be a perfect sub for Reijnders. We can't possibly hope to have only Reijnders as a creative player in that midfield. We all know Pioli is not going to play him. It is clear he does not consider him as a player who can contribute. So what is the use of letting him waste away? Sell him and add a buy back. Just in case. But at this point the kid is wasting his time here. We'll get to enjoy Pobega there when RLC or Reijnders aren't available

QUOTE (X-Offender @ Jul 31 2023, 02:29 PM) I don't think Pioli is as clueless as you make him out to be. He might not be a mastermind tactician, and his teams might not play spectacular football, but he's not an idiot. He clearly has something in mind for this new Milan side. Whether it will work out or not, it's too be seen.
As for Adli, I think the kid is perfect as mezz'ala. He's the natural sub of Reijnders. We should consider keeping him. It's not about being clueless, but about being stubborn. His player selections have been questionable for a while now. Krunic playing as our sole DM. For me that's suicide. And we all know he will keep playing him because he likes him, no matter what happens. How do you explain Bakayoko getting more minutes than Adli last season. He clearly does not rate Adli, so no matter what we think, we all know he'll be stuck to the bench again next season and that would be a waste Personally I'm worried that we're going to be leaking a lot of goals next season just like last. The last time we were solid defensively is when we played the Benna, Tonali, Kessie midfield trio and we have none of those guys now. Not to mention that if we keep relying on just individuals to score and create without really having a system we're going to still struggle for goals, even with the upgrades we made. Chuk and Rafa won't be able to do anything when we face teams with low blocks, which is 70% of the time and where we dropped the most points last season
