Feel like the team has played better with the pressure off.

It's whether it can handle it when it starts to mean something.

True that.

Yet I strongly believe the team has found the right mix and core, which is ready to be tested in a packed stadium.

Now it is yet to be seen if a packed stadium is possible next month when Serie A resumes.

I hope this special situation wasn't the key factor in our successful campaign with Pioli.

But I do fear it had a lasting impact. Not only the fact that we played with nothing to lose and no pressure at all. We played without fans and I think this also helped.

Such great optimism.

I think the team has found its footing. It has developed a system, an identity, the players know what to do. They're not clueless chicken running around aimlessly anymore. They want to prove themselves. You don't get wins against Roma, Lazio and Juventus, and draws against Napoli and Atalanta just out of circumstance.

I'm optimistic. I think with the right signings we can strengthen our side even further and finally challenge for those top spots.

I agree.

I certainly think that an element of what Danny et al are saying has been a factor, as the fans were getting on their backs a lot in these past few years, understandable but imo it was always a mistake by the curva to go that way with such a young team.

But the way we've played these games imo has more to do with finding the right balance and system. We were already seeing a bit of that before the stop, for example in the Coppa game against Juve at home I thought we played immensely that night. I really do think Pioli has found a way to get this team working.

What matters most now is that Paolo finds the right players to upgrade the positions we were weak in this season. And I am really relieved as well that we're not going to be starting from zero again this coming season. Sticking with Pioli was the right call and will give us some much needed continuity

Unbelievable naivety from you two, particularly X.

Results pre-lockdown:

WDLDWDL

Two wins.

Post lock down:

Do I even need to spell it out?

Are you seriously telling me the team has just got an identity plucked out of thin air now? That everything that wasn't working in March is now miraculously clicking after the squad spent 3 months in their bedrooms playing FIFA?

Or is it more likely the pressure being off made a huge difference.

I admit the football is good, the results are good, and I attributed a lot of that to Ibra, but a huge chunk is thanks to no fans and no pressure.

These players are mostly bottlers.

This lockdown affected different teams in different ways. And Milan, with low expectations on them, have thrived under it.

When suddenly the expectations go higher, and it really means something, we won't be winning like this again.

I want to be wrong, and I want you both to frame and quote this in December if this squad is sailing high in the league.

But if it's not, I don't want any 'yeah but'.

I agree. Let's just say it's not the only reason we did well. But, it's the main factor.

The presence of Ibra, but also Kjaer helped in this process. And, if we go out and buy
2-3 experienced players, this will further push us in the right direction. What is sure is that
we are going in the right direction to find a good balance for this team.

Personally, I don't place much importance on the lack of fans in the stands as a factor. I actually find it absurd that some people think it was a decisive factor. But hey, to each their own.

Yeah, they all had football transplants while they played Xbox for 4 months and suddenly became mentally strong and great at the team sport, while Pioli turned into the ghost of Sacchi overnight.

That's much more believable actually.
